OAKLAND COUNTY KENNEL CLUB DAY ONE

We return to the other side of the country to tell you about today’s Oakland County Kennel Club show in Novi MI.  Victor Clemente’s final line up were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Tender Is The Night, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Craigwood’s Ol’South U Can’t Touch This, the Bernese Mountain Dog, GCH CH Alpenspirit Just In Time, GCH CH Sugarbush’s American Girl, the GCH CH Hallmark Joleigh Austin Powers, the GCH CH Kepley’s Showbiz Razzle Dazzle, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH I’m Special Huron’s Prevailing Wind.

His BIS was the Basset.  Not yet four years old, he has been in the Top Ten Basset Hounds for the last two years.  Congratulations to breeder Sandra Campbell, owners Robert Opeka, Kenneth Hutchinson, & Kirk Joiner, and handler Sarah Karger.  We hope to have a photo for you shortly.

DFA OF OREGON DAY TWO

GCH CH Powerpom High Performance

With over 2800 dogs entered the day two show of the Dog Fanciers of Oregon is the biggest single show this weekend.  The seven asking Jim Briley for all those points were the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Poole's Ide Got Water RN, Afghan Hound, GCH CH Stormhill's Sweet Dreams of Rafica, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Aviator’s Luck Be A Lady, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Bayleigh Shaireab's Super Hero, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Powerpom High Performance, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Blue Isle's Bolurree'.

Getting the Best In Show and a big jump in the rankings was the Pom, Calvin.  It’s the second BIS of the set and his second of the year for Calvin.  The big win will definitely put Calvin in the Top Ten Dogs All Breeds.  We will have to wait for the rest of the weekend’s results before we know where he will land.

FORT BEND KC DAY ONE

We have results from the day one show of the Fort Bend Kennel Club in Rosenberg TX.  Charles Trotter chose his BIS, the Mastiff, GCH CH Lazy D's Bonnie Blue, from a final that also included the Vizsla, GCH CH Regal Point Pinnacle Of Kilauea, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Har-Lou's Gorgeous Jorge, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Skyscots Poker Chip, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, CH Alderbridge Logan Of Crestbury, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Hamelot Little Drummer Boy, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, CH Happiharbor Saddle Lane Ty.  It’s the second BIS this year for the big girl with the quintessential southern name.

CARROLL KC DAY TWO

CH Ta-Jon’ Just Bee-Ing Silly

The Carroll Kennel Club chose Lawrence Stanbridge to do BIS at their day two show in West Friendship MD.  His Best was the Maltese, CH Ta-Jon’ Just Bee-Ing Silly.  Also seeking the top prize were the Chesapeak Bay Retrieve, CH Chestnut Hills Watermark, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Field’s Bahama Sands, the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Tugar’s America’s Most Wanted, the Parson Russell, GCH CH Foxbend Colour Me More, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Hillwood Dassin Shut Up N’Dance, and yesterday’s BIS winner, the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.  Justine had two BIS last year and now has already equaled that mark this year.  Going to be a good year for Toy Dogs.

CLEARWATER KENNEL CLUB REDUX

As we wind down the Florida Marathon we come to the Clearwater Kennel Club show, the seventh of eight shows in Brooksville FL this month.  Today Sari Brewster Tietjen saw the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Smooth Dachshund, CH Brownwoood D’Geno Rock SS, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Mi-Ti’s Three Cheers, the Skye Terrier, CH Cragsmoor Buddy Goodman, the Pug, GCH CH Caper's Sirius Endeavor, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Bandog Bayou’s The Warrior, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Mysharas Dream Girl. 

Best In Show went to the Cocker, Beckham.   Beckham, the Number Five Dog All Breeds in 2010, collected 23 BIS and 96 Sporting groups last year.  Congratulations to breeder/owner bred by Linda Moore, owners Bruce Vandeman, Carolee Douglas, Mary Walker, & C Cassidy, and handler Linda Pitts.

CARROLL KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins

Col Jerry Weiss had day two duty in West Friendship MD.  His seven in the Carroll Kennel Club’s final were the Vizsla, GCH CH Artisan Grouse Point Pink Panther JH, the Borzoi, GCH CH Raynbo's Run For The Roses, the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Tugar’s America’s Most Wanted, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Maltese, CH Ta-Jon’s Just Bee-Ing Silly, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Hillwood Dassin Shut Up N’Dance, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.

His BIS was the Beardie, Roy.  It was the 49 career BIS for AKC 's winingest Bearded Collie in history.  Roy, the only Beardie to win a BIS in 2010, won 33 BIS and an astonishing 141 Herding Groups.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Larry & Angela Stein, Lesley Woodcock, & Robert Lamm,  owners Ellen Charles & Susan Ross, and handler Clifford Steele.

DFA OF OREGON

They topped 2500 entries at today’s Dog Fanciers Association of Oregon show.  The seven that survived to make it to Robert Hutton’s final were the Clumber Spaniel, CH Clussexx Last Lion, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Northgate’s As You Like It, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Karnovanda's Tenzing, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Fortuna De Aiedkii's, yesterday’s BIS winner, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Powerpom’s High Performance, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Icelandic Sheepdog, CH Eyjahunda Thorarinn.

Taking home the biggest prize of the day was the Icelandic Sheepdog, Thorrii.  Thorrii becomes the first of his breed to win an AKC all breed BIS, doing so in spectacular fashion at one of dogdom’s marquee shows over formidable competition.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Donna McDermott & Terry Warnock, and handler Tammie Wilcox. 

SIMI VALLEY KENNEL CLUB

Fanciers and exhibitors continue to enjoy the balmy weather in Ventura CA.  Today’s final at the Simi Valley Kennel Club show, judged by Marcia Feld, included the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Shortales N Cahoots W Irondale JH, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline’s Chanel, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Fishbay’s Faith Hope And Love, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Allaruth Solebay Chipothgoldblok, the Havanese, GCH CH Bellatak McDreamy, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Segni At Coventry.

She chose the Corgi, Molly, as her BIS.  It’s Molly’s second BIS of the new year and puts her at the top of the Herding Group for now.  However, we do have a whole lot of weekend to go.

LIVONIA KC DAY TWO

The Livonia Kennel Club kept the excitement going in Novi MI with their day two show. Kent Delaney’s final drew the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Tender Is The Night, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Torquay Midnight Confession, the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Sno Klassic Back Door Man, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Tallydales Friend Of The Force, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Joleigh Austin Powers, the Bulldog, GCH CH Kepley’s Showbiz Razzle Dazzle, and the Old English Sheepdog, CH Lambluv Street Of Dreams.

BIS was the 15” Beagle, Lola.  Lola, 2010’s Number Two Hound, gathered up 21 all breed BIS and 71 Hound Group firsts last year.  Congratulations to breeder/owner/handler Marcelo Chagas and fellow breeder/owner Alessandra Botelho.

Today was Tampa Bay Kennel Club’s second time around for this year’s iteration of the Florida Marathon.  It’s the sixth show of eight at the Brooksville FL site this year.   There were nine scheduled, but Monday’s show had to be cancelled because of the threat of lightning strikes.

However, the real drama was in Charles Olvis’ final with the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Greyhound, GCH CH Gaia Elfin Dance, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH Monarch’s Borgota,  the Irish Terrier, GCH CH Fleet St Fenway Fan, the Standard Poodle, Alaman It's All About Me, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, and yesterday’s  BIS winner, the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Mysharas Dream Girl, all vying for the judge’s nod

He chose the Irish Terrier, Fynn.  Fynn was 2010’s Number Four Terrier, winning eight BIS and 63 Terrier Groups.   Congratulations to breeders RC Carusi & Shari Boyd-Carusi & Stan Wodjewodski, owners Tony Barker & Victor Malzoni Jr, and handler Robert M Carusi.

CHANNEL CITY KENNNEL CLUB

CH PaRay’s Power & Privilege

The one dog show yesterday at which you could get beautiful weather was the Channel City Kennel Club show in Ventura CA.   William Bergum’s final lineup was just as beautiful as the beach outside.  They were the Irish Water Spaniel, CH Whistle Stop’s Wind On The Water, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Quiet Creek’s Kiss And Tell, the Great Dane, GCH CH Bayside Just Another Day In Paradise, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Dalriada’s Mystic, the Pomeranian, GCH CH CR Simply Irritable, the Bichon Frise, CH PaRay’s Power & Privilege, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Blackrock American Flyer PT.

It was the beautiful Bichon, Dominick, getting his very first all breed BIS.  We first took note of this guy when he won the big limited breed warm up to the Palm Springs Kennel Club weekend, the Sand to Sea Non-Sporting Association show, in his first appearance as a special.  The two wins so early in a career are the kind of criteria we look for in our first new DOG2WATCH of 2011. Congratulations to breeders Paul Flores, Tray Pittman, & Gayle Sarner, and owners Dr Martin Winston MD and Lauara Rosio.

TUALATIN KENNEL CLUB

The Tualatin Kennel Club opened the big Portland OR all breed competition today with better than 2300 dogs entered.  The seven that made it to Elliott Weiss’ final were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Oteins Cap'n Jack Sparrow, the Basenji, CH Signet Meiterhaus Gossip Girl, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Trozian Onyx At Torum, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Powerpom High Performance, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Belgian Tervuren, CH Sky Acres Flying Solo. 

It was the little guy winning the big show, the Pom, Calvin.  Calvin was the Number One Pomeranian in 2010 gathering up five all breed Bests and 34 Toy Group top prizes.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Pongsakorn Pongsak and handler Bill McFadden.

ANNAPOLIS KENNEL CLUB

James Fredericksen opened the four day set in West Friendship MD, choosing a BIS for the Annapolis Kennel Club.  The stop’s first final featured the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Tamarack's Race You To Calico, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Field’s Bahama Sands, the Great Pyreness, CH Rivergroves Coco Mademoisell, the Parson Russell Terrier, GCH CH Foxbend Colour Me More, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Hillwood Ale Kai Women Of The year, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.  We are still looking for the Sporting and Working groups representatives.

BIS went to the young, Parsons, Heidi, her first BIS.  Heidi becomes only the second Parsons to win a all breed Best In Show in the last five years, her father, GCH CH Thunder Hill Soul Journey, being the other.   Congratulations to breeders/owners David & Susan Crawford, owners Dr Johnny Miller & Jane Gardner, and handler Dana Ann Bryson.

There were just over 1000 dogs entered in today’s Livonia Kennel Club show in Novi MI.  Barbara Dempsey Alderman chose her BIS from the Irish Setter, CH Rosette’s No Stone Unturned, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Torquay Midnight Confession, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Nahani Starlyte Varja, the Irish Terrier, GCH CH Sugarbush’s American Girl, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Austin Powers, the Bulldog, GCH CH Kepley’s Showbiz Razzle Dazzle, and the Belgian Tervuren, CH Stonewall’s Justice For All.

BIS went to the Irish Terrier, Kit.  It’s the second BIS of the year for the 26 month old bitch.  In fact it’s her second BIS ever.   We’re always a sucker for a redhead.

Janet Turnage Nahikian had today’s final of the second Inverness Florida Kennel Club show in Brooksville FL, the sixth of nine shows in the Florida Marathon.  Her seven included the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Reece Afterhours The Buck Stops Here JH, the Redbone Coonhound, GCH CH CWSG CCH Sidearm Jungle King Mufasa, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall Brookwood Styled Dream, the Irish Terrier, GCH CH Fleet St Fenway Fan, the Pug, GCH CH Caper's Sirius Endeavor , the French Bulldog, GCH CH Bandog Bayou’s The Warrior, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Mysharas Dream Girl.

BIS was the Aussie, Beyonce.  Beyonce was the Number One Australian Shepherd in 2010, copping seven BIS and 54 Herding Groups.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Sharon L Fontanini and handler Jamie Clute.

Yesterday’s Terrier Association of Oregon show was the largest of the preliminaries to this week’s  four all breed mega shows in Portland OR.  Gay Dunlap’s Top Terrier was the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Slyfox Sneaks A Peek.  Adam and handler Eddie Boyes finished 2010 as the Number Ten Dog All Breeds with 25 BIS and 84 Terrier Groups.  Congratulations to Eddie, breeders Joan & Mark Taggart, and owner JW Smith.

MANATEE KENNEL CLUB AGAIN

Our Florida Marathon is half over and back underway today in Brooksville FL with the Manatee Kennel Club show, the fifth of nine shows at this site this month.  The seven hopefuls that made it to Raymond Bay’s final were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Shadagee Caught Red Handed, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Siphra’s No Remorse JC, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Mi-Ti’s Three Cheers,  the Skye Terrier, CH Cragsmoor Buddy Goodman, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and a German Shepherd from the Open Dog class, Bandheims Captain Crunch.

BIS went to the Doberman, Quincy.  Two year old Quincy worked his way up the Working Group last year collecting 49 group placements and his first all breed Best in November.  He is obviously ready for the big time.  Congratulations to breeders Shirley Baker, Carol Silverman & J Laverdiere, owners Jordan Goldblatt, Shirley Baker, Carol Silverman, & D Roof DVM, and handler Gwen DeMilta.

LOTS OF SHOWS IN LOTS OF PLACES

Our dog show week begins tomorrow with the resumption of the rain delayed Florida Marathon in Brooksville FL, with each of the Manatee, Inverness Florida, Tampa Bay, Clearwater, & Pasco Florida Kennel Club s all taking a turn.  However, the big points will again be out in the Pacific Northwest where the Tualatin Kennel Club and the Dog Fanciers Association Of Oregon will attract more than 10,000 dogs for four days of all breed shows.

There will be plenty of competition for entries from the Mid Atlantic where the Annapolis Kennel Club & Carroll Kennel Club will set up for four days in West Friendship MD,  the Great Lakes Region where exhibitors can enjoy four days in Novi MI with the Livonia Kennel Club, and sunny California where the fanciers can spend four days in Ventura with the Channel City Kennel Club, Simi Valley Kennel Club , San Fernando Kennel Club, & Ventura County Dog Fanciers Association.

There are also traditional two day weekends in Des Moines IA with the Central Iowa Kennel Club, in Rosenberg TX with the Fort Bend Kennel Club, in Anchorage AK with the Kenai & Anchorage Kennel Clubs, and in Ewa HI with the West Oahu Kennel Club.

Once again, the American public has a dazzling choice of venues to see the dazzling dogs that are AKC purebreds.  Come on out!  For those of you who cannot get out to a show this weekend, be sure to watch the broadcast of the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship this this Sunday,  2 PM EST/PST and 1 PM CST on ABC.

SAMMAMISH KENNEL CLUB

Our dog show weekend ended today in Puyallup WA with the Sammamish Kennel Club show.  Chuck Winslow’s final included the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Poole's Ide Got Water RN, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Soletrader Donald Duck, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Aviator’s Luck Be A Lady, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Slyfox Sneaks A Peek, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Powerpom High Performance, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Australian Cattle Dog, CH Carben Copy's If The Shoe Fits.

BIS was the Water Spaniel, Keegan.  Keegan spent most of 2010 close to home, but managed to total seven all breed Bests and 23 Sporting Group Firsts.  Congratulations to breeders Greg Siner & Debbie Patterson and owners Stacy Duncan, Colleen McDaniel, C Shelby, & Greg Siner.

MERRIMACK VALLEY KC DAY TWO

We have our first results of the day.  Up in Fitchburg MA Carol Tobin Murray made it two in a row for the Whippet, GCH CH Starline’s Chanel, wrapping up the four day weekend with the day two show of the Merrimack Valley Kennel Club.   Ms Murray might have chosen the Sussex Spaniel, CH Erinhill Cpnwy Mr Fuzzy wrinkles , the Dogue de Bordeaux, GCH CH Mount Sinai Crusader St Amand, the Irish Terrier, GCH CH Fleet ST Fenway Fan, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Kimro’s Soldier Boy, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Risgae’s Dutchess Of Wessex, or the Puli, GCH CH Fuzzy Farm Twist And Shout, but she didn’t.

The win could put two Whippets in a dead heat for the Number Two Dog All Breeds.  However, we will have to wait for results from today’s Sammamish Kennel Club out in Puyallup WA to see where our fast friends end up.

FLORIDA MONDAY SHOW CANCELLED


We have learned that today’s Pasco Florida Kennel Club show in Brooksville FL has been cancelled due to extreme danger from severe thunder storms and lightning.   We will keep you posted on the rest of this week’s Brooksville shows.

NO MONDAY MORNING MOP UP

 
We normally awake Monday mornings to a plethora of show reports and hours of catch up.  However, for the first time since beginning this blog, we have no Monday Morning Mop Up to do.  Our fantastic readers kept us up to the minute through out the weekend, enabling us to bring you same day coverage on all the shows this weekend.  Now that’s the dog show community we talk about!  Thank you to all of those fanciers who took the time to send us in reports.

TACOMA KENNEL CLUB

Our last report of the evening comes in from the day’s largest event, the Tacoma Kennel Club show in Puyallup WA. The seven best of over 2200 entries were the Labrador Retriever, GCH CH NipnTuck Stocking Stuffer, the Wirehaired Dachshund, CH Lockshire's Detour To Sanlyn, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Aviator’s Luck Be A Lady, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Slyfox Sneaks A Peek, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Tamarin Top Banana, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Windsorcastles Foxlor Tyra.

Darryl Vice's BIS was the Affenpinscher, Topper.  Last year Topper picked up five BIS and 27 Toy Group Firsts.  Congratulations to breeders Tamarin Kennel (Terry & Jackie Stacy), Tracy Kahlo & Susy Stremel,  owner Myrna R Kahlo, and handler Jorge Olivera.

OSHKOSH KENNEL CLUB

People who don’t read us may not know that folks in Wisconsin take time out from football to go to dog shows, but they do.    Today the hometown Oshkosh Kennel Club drew almost 900 dogs.  The seven who made it to James Reynolds’ final were the Brittany, GCH CH Star Flight Jumpin Jack Flash OA NAJ RN, the longhaired Dachshund, CH Hundeleben  Queen’s Armada SL, yesterday’s BIS winner, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Cammcastle’s Friar Tuck, the Border Terrier, CH Meadowlake Simply Sinful, the Maltese, CH Ta-Jon’s Just Bee-ing Silly, the Keeshond, GCH CH Daimler’s Caviar Dreams, and the Belgian Sheepdog, GCH CH Chargany Voyager.  It was Tux, the Rott, with the BACK2BACK win.  Looks like the Working Group will be as competitive as ever this year.

CORPUS CHRISTI KC DAY TWO

Deep down in Texas in Sinton the Corpus Christi Kennel Club held their day two show.  At the end of the day, Luc Boileau collected the Black Cocker Spaniel, CH K-J & Coldry Sherman Tank, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Northgate's As You Like It, the Standard Schnauzer, CH Shalimar’s Golden Ticket, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Skyscot's Poker Chip, the Maltese, GCH CH Rhapsody's Regarding Henry, the  Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Chaoyang Chick Magnet At Asia, and the Canaan Dog, CH Mad River Cool Breeze Blowing. 

His Best was the Norwich, Pokey.  Pokey finished 2010 as the Number Five Terrier with 15 BIS and 58 Terrier Groups.  Congratulations to breeder Leslie Becker, owner Carol Dodwell, and handler Brenda Lee Combs.

Down the road from us fanciers were gathering today for the day two show of the Golden Triangle Kennel Club Of Mississippi.  BIS judge Jerry Watson chose a first timer, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, CH Miletree Northern Star as his BIS.  Joining Teddy in the final were the German Shorthaired Pointer, CH Autumn's Stardust And Roses, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, CH Dehra Amazona Bvlgari, the Black Russian Terrier, CH Filimon Rbk Iz Galickih Zemel RN, the Wire Fox Terrier, Edenshire Tainted Love,  the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Vaje's Miss Jayne Hathaway, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi,  GCH CH Tallyrand Halo Chaser. Congratulations to breeders Peter & Ruta Towse, owners  Dr Bruce & Shirley Henry & Betty George, and handler Collette Livingston, standing in for regular handler Clint Livingston.

The Whippet from sunny California, GCH CH Starline’s Chanel, was in snowy New England to pick up the BIS at today’s Merrimack Valley Kennel Club in Fitchburg MA.  Challenging Chanel in Dr James Sillers’ final were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Signature Of Telltale CD RN, the Akita, GCH CH Nakodo’s Reign Of Glory, the American Staffordshire Terrier, CH Castle Rock's SBigStaff Mad About You, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Mondrian VH Lamslag RE, the Standard Poodle, CH Desert Turquise Elijah, and the Rough Collie to be named later.

Chanel finished 2010 as the Number Six Dog All Breeds and the Number One Hound with 26 BIS and 110 Hound Group wins.  Congratulations to breeder Diane Bowen, breeders/owners Lori Lawrence & Carey Lawrence, owner Nicole Lawrence, and handler Lori Wilson.

GCH CH Saks Hamelot Little Drummer Boy

Day four in Brooksville FL fell to the Tampa Bay Kennel Club and Vicki Abbott, who had the pleasure of a final with the Irish Setter, GCH CH Shadagee Caught Red Handed, the Greyhound, GCH GrandCru Clos Erasmus, the Rottweiler, CH West Winds Excellent Blue Boy, the Skye Terrier, CH Cragsmoor Buddy Goodman, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Ayrwen Star Kissed Delight, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Hamelot Little Drummer Boy, and the Bearded Collie, Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.

Her BIS was the Bichon, Drummer.  It’s the second big BIS this year for Drummer and handler Scott Sommer and pushes them up into the Top Five Dogs All Breeds.  But don’t forget we still have six more days of the Florida Marathon to go.

GCH CH Foxcliffe Hickory Wind

The Chesapeake Kennel Club Of Maryland capped the five day funfest in Fredericksburg VA today with Whitney Coomb’s final.  She had her pick of the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Scottish Deerhound, GCH CH Foxcliffe Hickory Wind, the Rottweiler, GCH CH D’Oro Solido’s Felciano Uno, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Pekingese GCH CH PalaceGarden Malachy, the Standard Poodle, CH Hillwood Dassin Shut Up N‘Dance, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Whisperwood’s Wild Horse.

He chose the Deerhound, Hickory. Hickory and handler Angela Lloyd collected 10 BIS and 57 Hound Group top prizes, despite missing four months of the season.  Congratulations to Angela, breeders/owners Cecilia L Dove & Dr R Scott Dove, and owner Sally Sweatt.

The Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Field’s Bahama Sands, picked up her fourth BIS of the new year, posting her second top prize of the weekend in Hamburg NY.  Joining Tawny in Rita Bell’s final at today’s Ashtabula Kennel Club show were the Spinoni Italiano, GCH CH Klondike’s Federico Ilario, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Cypress Bay Don Juan DeMarco, the Irish Terrier, GCH CH Sugarbush’s American Girl, the Blenheim & Prince English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Loujon Backroads To Paris, the Lowchen, CH Touche's Undercover Agent Rainbow, and the Norwegian Buhund, GCH CH Radalyn Spring Jada.   We think it’s fitting that a Whippet be in the race for the Number One Dog All Breeds in 2011.
