POODLE CLUB OF AMERICA

GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction

We have often teased about the ubiquitous Poodle. The Poodle in its show cut is the epitome of the show dog.  To the fancier the show cut is magnificent in full bloom.  To John Q Public it is extreme, maybe even ridiculous.  However, in no breed will you find a more highly developed sense of the dog show world.  You have an exceedingly high level of quality in all three varieties of the breed, a lengthy history of dedicated and knowledgeable breeders, and a standard of grooming excellence and dedication to presentation in the ring that is unequaled in the sport.

CH Smash Jp Rock It Man

This week the Poodle Club of America gathered 111 Toys, 98 Miniatures, & 254 Standard Poodles in Salisbury MD to celebrate one of America’s most popular Breeds.   Swedish judge Mikael Nilsson chose the Toy Poodle, CH Smash Jp Rock It Man, as his BOV and CH Sharbelle Just for Fun as his BOS.  BOV Ieyasu was bred by the masterful Yukiko Omura and is owned by Toshi Omura & Simon Briggs.

CH Kandansk Legendary Storm

Arguably the perfect breed/variety for anyone, pet owner or exhibitor, we don’t see nearly enough Miniature Poodles anymore.  This week judge Debra Cozart selected the ten month old puppy bitch, CH Kandansk Legendary Storm as her Best Miniature Poodle.  Congratulations to breeders/owners to Kathryn Albrecht & Natasha Taphorn.

The Standard Poodle Variety was chockablock with BIS winners and nationally ranked dogs.  Jane Forsyth selected the country’s Number Six Dog All Breeds, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, as her Best of Variety.    Congratulations to Anne, breeders/owners Sandra Tompkins & Chris Bailey, and owners Beth Harris & Mary Jo Winters.

In the inter-variety competition, Randy Garren would double down on the Standard, London, as his Best Poodle.  The National Specialty win is the perfect compliment to London’s 25 career all breed BIS.  If  you haven’t seen this one yet, seek him out.  We promise you will be impressed.

NORTHERN ARKANSAS KC DAY TWO

GCH CH Royalist Ready to Reign

We normally like to wait until we have the names of all the finalists to report on a Best In Show, but there are exceptions…like when a show takes place under a superintendent that waits for weeks to publish results from a show that takes place in an area where there is no AKC representative to report the winners, and the  Group winners have owners who don’t know we are here to report their wins. (Yes, we admit it.  There are exhibitors who have never heard of us.)

However, at least two of the dogs from Sunday’s North Arkansas Kennel Club show in Harrison AR did tell us about their wins. the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria's Lucky Charm, and the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Royalist Ready to Reign.   Charles Trotter's BIS winner was the Toy Spaniel, Dash.  It’s the second of the year for the little charmer and handler Laura King.

GCH CH Szumeria's Lucky Charm
& Junior Handler Mary Lee

The Kuvasz, Zoe, who took the Group One on Saturday, was the Working Group Two winner on Sunday.  Zoe is shown by twelve year old Junior Handler, Mary Lee.  We’ve watched Mary for a couple of years at our local shows and we are amazed at her skill and maturity.  We might even create a new category for her.  How does JR2WATCH sound?

We are up early this Easter morn to bring you the results we missed from yesterday.  We’ll start with an update from Bossier City LA where the Shreveport Kennel Club has been partying for the last two days.  The biggest celebrator has been the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Hamelot Little Drummer Boy, who has taken both of the top prizes.

On Saturday Drummer & handler Scott Sommer were challenged in Dr Robert Indeglia’s final by the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Autumn's Stardust And Roses, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Northgate’s As You Like It, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall I Dream of Style, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Devon’s Semper Fi, the Papillon, CH Copella’s Rising Attraction, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Bandheim’s Captain Crunch.

Sunday Victor Joris would pick Drummer out of a group that included the aforementioned GSP, Pharaoh, & Boxer, the Miniature Bull Terrier, CH Sterling’s King of Windadam, the Maltese, GCH CH Rhapsody Regarding Henry, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry’s Pennant.  That brings Drummer BIS year’s total to a lucky 13 and he still has two more chances to pick up another this weekend.
