SHOWS IN FAR FLUNG PLACES

Fishing on the Kenai Rive near Soldotna AK

We have barely finished the reports from last weeks shows and the new week is upon us.  Our first all breed show this week opens when the Naugatuck Valley Kennel Club opens a five day set tomorrow in West Springfield MA.  The Holyoke Kennel Club, the Kenilworth Kennel Club Of Connecticut, & the Farmington Valley Kennel Club will all do one show before the NVKC closes it on Sunday.  Next door in Up State New York, the Genesee Valley Kennel Club will do two on the shores of Lake Ontario in Hamlin NY near Rochester.

Down in the Mid Atlantic the action is in West Friendship MD where the Catoctin Kennel Club, the Northeastern Maryland Kennel Club, the Upper Marlboro Kennel Club, & the National Capital Kennel Club will team up in an admirable display of cooperation to give fanciers four shows starting Thursday.  400 miles west the hometown Huntington Kennel Club will host two in    Huntington WV.

If you are in the nation’s mid-section you may have to drive a ways to a show.  There are the standard Saturday/Sunday offerings in Monroe MI with the Ann Arbor Kennel Club & in DeKalb IL with the Greater DeKalb Kennel Club.  In between St Louis MO and Kansas City MO, you will find Sedalia MO where there will be three shows courtesy of the Jefferson City Missouri Kennel Club & the Sedalia Kennel Club.

Look for big numbers & big names in Dallas TX this week.  They will kick it off Thursday with the Terriers only North Texas Terrier Club, followed  by three all breed shows from the Texas Kennel Club, the Trinity Valley Kennel Club, & the Greater Collin Kennel Club.

If you live in the western half of the US, your choices are fewer and farther.  Once again we expect big numbers and big names in Ventura CA this weekend for the three shows offered by the Channel City Kennel Club, the Santa Maria Kennel Club, & the Ventura County Dog Fanciers Association.  It’s over 1,000 miles up I-5 to Centralia WA where the Timberland Valley Dog Fanciers Association will set up for two days.

If you are really adventurous check out the Kenai Kennel Club three shows in Soldotna, AK, considered by many as the number one fishing destination in the US.  It’s summer!  Live a little.  Visit an AKC show & fall in love all over again.
