FEWER SHOWS THIS WEEK

The Houston Reliant Center
For the past several weeks exhibitors have had multiple shows from which to choose each week.  This week there are just six sites hosting all breed shows.

One sure to draw huge entries is Houston where the three shows hosted by the Houston Kennel Club, Beaumont Kennel Club, & Galveston County Kennel Club, will make this one of the ten largest gatherings of the year.  The all breed shows, which begin Friday, will be preceded by two all Terrier limited breed shows courtesy of  the Houston All-Terrier Club and one for the Working Dogs sponsored by the Texas Working Dog Association Of Greater Houston, as well as a plethora of breed specialties.

There are other multiple show offerings elsewhere. The Chambersburg Area Kennel Club & Nita Nee Kennel Club will join up to host four shows starting tomorrow in Centre Hall PA and the Putnam Kennel Club will take Friday & Saturday for their two shows in Stormville NY, then send in the Hounds for Sunday’s Hudson River Valley Hound Association in Chatham NY limited breed event.

The remaining shows are all traditional Saturday/Sunday fare, two in Medina OH with the Medina Kennel Club & the Richland County Kennel Club, the Paper Cities Kennel Club’s two in Rothschild WI, and the only west coast choice, the hometown Portland (OR) Kennel Club’s duo.

The good news is if you make it to one of these shows, you are almost certainly guaranteed to see some of the finest dogs in the world, the AKC purebreds.

INLAND EMPIRE KENNEL ASSOCIATION

GCH CH Alpenspirit Who’s On First

We know Idaho is renown as place to get away from it all, but does that mean we have to wait for several days to get dog show results?  Apparently so, as we just got the results from this past weekend’s Inland Empire Kennel Association shows in Coeur D'Alene.

On Saturday James Frederiksen gathered the seven survivors, the Pointer, CH Coralwood Wynot Step Up to the Plate, the Redbone Coonhound, GCH CH Eskai’s Sir Kasper, the Bernese Mountain Dog, GCH CH Alpenspirit Who’s On First, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Alpine’s Highwayman, the Pekingese, GCH CH Windemere's Dusting Of White At Pevyne, the Bulldog, GCH CH Itsa Brix, and the Rough Collie, CH Highcroft Hush Hush.

Day one went to the Bernese, Abbot.   It’s the first this year for Abbot.  Congratulations to breeder Mylene Turbide and owners Anne & Greg Summers.

GCH CH Alpine’s Highwayman

All of Saturday’s finalists, save one, were back on Sunday to charm Judith Daniels, with the Greyhound, GCH CH Helios Foxglove Atheart, being the lone newcomer.  The one who impressed her was the AmStaff Jelly.  Jelly has been to the final ring 23 times this year and has collected four big rosettes, three of which have come this month.  We think Jelly will be collecting a few more before the year is up.

We have not forsaken those of you looking for this past week's results from Duluth MN. We hope to have a report for you soon.
