MONDAY MORNING MOP UP

GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici

We begin our Monday Morning Mop Up in West Springfield MA where four of the country’s Top Five Dogs All Breeds gathered on Thanksgiving Day for a heaping helping of scarce points at the Holyoke Kennel Club show.

The Number One Dog, the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, and the Number Two Dog, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, met in Dr Klaus Anselm’s Sporting Group, where the Springer, Peyton emerged as the Group One, while the GWP, Oakley took the group Two.

Peyton advanced to meet the Wirehaired Dachshund, CH Legibach Captain Crunch, the nation’s Number Three Dog, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Maltese, GCH CH Ta-Jon’s Pawstively Pawparazzi, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogelflight’s “Honor” to Pillowtalk, and AKC’s Number One Herding Dog, the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Babheim’s Captain Crunch.

Getting the biggest piece of the pie was the Doberman, FiFi, while the Maltese, Snapshot, got the Reserve.  FiFi has occupied a top three berth or better since the first weekend of the year.  Thursday’s BIS was her 43rd of the year.

Oakley would spend Friday in Maryland (more on that later) while Peyton would join the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Doberman, FiFi, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Larkspur Save Me A Spot, the US’ Number Five Dog All Breeds, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, and the above named Bichon & GSD in Dr Anselm’s final for the Windham County Kennel Club show.  Finishing One/Two were the Springer, Peyton, and the Harrier, Chet.

Oakley would be back to challenge Peyton in Betty Horn Humer’s Sporting Group at Saturday’s South Windsor Kennel Club show.  Once again Peyton and Oakley would finish One/Two and Peyton would advance to plead his case with BIS judge Robert Stein.

Joining him were the Harrier, Chet, the Doberman, FiFi, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Class Act of Hallsblu, the Maltese, Snapshot, the Schipperke, Delamer Black Ice, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Collinswood One In A Million NA NAJ.   Peyton would collect his second BIS of the set, while FiFi would collect the Reserve.

Oakley and Peyton would meet for the third time this week in Dr Alvin Krause’s Sporting Group at Sunday’s Springfield Kennel Club show, where they took the top two awards once more.  However, this time it was the GWP, Oakley advancing to Keke Kahn’s final.

Challenging Oakley for the BIS were the now familiar Harrier, Doberman, Kerry, Affenpinscher, & Schipperke with the lone newcomer being the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Heritage Ever after.  Oakley would collect his first BIS of the week and the Affenpinscher, Joey would pick up the RBIS.

Oakley and Peyton have been at the top of the rankings, separated by a handful of points,  for much of the year.  They started the week about 2200 points apart.  Peyton has managed to cut that to around 1100 points with this week’s wins.  Oakley now has 67 big rosettes this year while Peyton has 60 top prizes.  Don’t bet your lunch money on this one.  We expect a photo finish.

  1. You might want to check Peyton's BIS. I think it is 60.
