SAMMAMISH KENNEL CLUB DAY ONE

They had nearly 2000 dogs show up in Puyallup WA at today’s Sammamish Kennel Club show.  The seven who made it to Marsha Hill Brown’s final were the Weimaraner, GCH cH Silhouette’s LifeInTheFastLane, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hi-Tech Innovator, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria's Wildwood Silver Six Pence, the Kerry blue Terrier, GCH CH Perrirsblu Kennislain’s Chelsey, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Tamarin Top Banana, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv Gambolon Blue Thunder.

Best In Show was the Affenpinscher, Topper.  Topper’s 2011 resume includes BISS at the Affenpinscher Club of America’s National Specialty, 58 Toy Groups, and Ten all breed BIS.  Congratulations to breeders Tamarin Kennels, Tracy Kahlo, & Suzy Stremel, owner Myrna Kahlo, and handler Jorge Olivera.

THE FLORIDA MARATHON DAY THREE

It was the Inverness Florida Kennel Club’s turn on day three of the Florida Marathon and they asked Raymond V Filburn Jr to choose a BIS from the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH cH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline’s Chanel, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Hollywood’s Sex and the City, the Skye Terrier, CH Of Skyeline Captain Hook, a Toy Poodle from the Open Dog class,  North Well Chako JP Speed Change, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Sunclipse Mystique, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Karosel Kartwheels.

Best went to the Whippet, Chanel.  Cha Cha and handler Lori Wilson have logged six Hound Group top prizes in six outings so far this year and today they have their first all breed BIS.  Chanel and Lori finished 2011 as the number One Whippet, the Number One Hound, and the Number Seven Dog All Breeds with 35 and an astounding 130 hound Groups.  Our congratulations to Lori and breeders/owners Lori & Carey Lawrence.

FREDERICKSBURG VA DAY FOUR

They’ve finished day four in Fredericksburg VA, where Steven Gladstone has just chosen the Puli Cordmaker Rumpus Bumpus his Best In Show.  Ziggy was joined by the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summit’s Emery It’s in the Bag, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Xenos Jimlet,the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol's Veni Vidi Vici, the Parson Russell Terrier, GCH CH Foxbend Colour Me More, the GCH CH Kenshei And That’s the Way It Is, and the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Sugar Baby.

Ziggy’s first BIS of the year follows a 2011 in which he finished as the Number One Puli with three BIS and 22 Herding Groups.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Sue Huebner, and owners Jacquelyn Beaudoin & Franco Licciardi.

HAMBURG NY DAY TWO

Our first set of results today is in from Hamburg NY where the Kennel Club of Buffalo NY held their day two show.  Dr Roger Pritchard’s seven finalist were the Curly-coated Retriever, GCH CH Down Datrail Hunting Thrills CD, the Whippet, GCH CH Counterpoint Painted by Bohem SC, the Boxer, GCH CH Jacquet’s Laredo El Encanto, the Miniature Schnauzer, CH Repetition’s Valedictorian, the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Loujon’s Backroads to Paris, the French Bulldog, CH Hilsman Bandog Holy Moses!, and a Rough Collie from the nine to 12 Puppy Dog class, Milas Certainly Latin.

His Best was the three year old Boxer, his first.  It’s not for lack of trying he has been in the final ring 20 times in the last two years.  We love persistency.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Linda Casella, co-breeders Carole Shea, Richard Tomita, & Monique Mastrafasqu, owners David & Nance Sparks, and handler Carmen Skinner.

Our next report comes in from New England where the Greater Lowell Kennel Club opened the four day weekend in Fitchburg MA.   Chris Walkowicz had the day one final and her choice of the Flat Coat retriever, GCH CH Blazin’s Joie de Vivre CD JH, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Langrigg Star of the Stage, the Bernese Mountain Dog, GCH CH Avatar’s Try Try Again, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Castle Rock's SBigStaff Mad About You, the Pomeranian, CH CR Chase What Matters, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogel flight’s “Honor” to Pillowtalk, and the Puli, GCH CH Fuzzy Farm Twist and Shout.

It was the AmStaff, Maddy, continuing her winning ways.  Maddy and handler Kim Rudzik gathered 15 BIS & 68 Terrier Groups in 2011.  Congratulations to Kim, breeders Laszlo Silz Nagy & Dayna Pesenti, and owners Genoa Brown, Ruth Sampson, & Dayna Pesenti.

HAMBURG NY DAY ONE

The Kennel Club of Buffalo joined the New Year today with their day one show in Hamburg NY.  Barabra Dempsey Alderman’s lineup consisted of the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Whisperfield Wicked Queen JH, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Stonybrook Prime Suspect, the Boxer, GCH CH Boca’s Royal Palms Splish Splash, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Absolutely Designer Edition, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Marquis Tiz Smoke’n Hot Bikini, the Lhasa Apso, Ch Cozmos Custombuilt, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Quiche’s Grand Finale.

Best went to the Bouvier, Al.  It’s the second this year for Al and breeder/owner/handler Elaine Paquette.  Suddenly, it’s beginning to look like a serious year for Bouviers.

Charles Olvis was in for the ailing W Everett Dean Jr at the day three final in Fredericksburg VA.  His seven finalists at today’s Greater Fredericksburg Kennel Club were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summit’s Emery It’s in the Bag, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Briardach’s Rock Star, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Aquarius Tantrums & Tiaras v Phillmar, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH McVan’s Be Bop Baby, the GCH CH Kenshei And That’s the Way It Is, Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Sugar Baby, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Rumpus Bumpus.

It was the Golden, Chloe, with her first all breed Best of the new year.  Chloe had more BIS, ten, than any other Golden last year as well as 29 Sporting Group top prizes.  Our congratulations to breeder/owner/handler Beth Johnson.

We have just returned home after a hectic afternoon to find we have lots of show results.  First from the Florida Marathon in Brooksville FL we hear that the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Perrisblu Kennislain’s Kelsey, too home her first Best In Show of the year from today’s Clearwater Kennel Club show.  Joining Chelsey and handler Bill McFadden in Pat Totter’s final were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline’s Chanel, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall I Dream of Style, the Pug, GCH CH Caper’s Sirius Endeavor, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the Beauceron, GCH CH Beowulf Rime des Monts du Lac.

Chelsey & Bill started out late in 2011 and still managed to finish as the Number One Kerry (all breeds), collecting six BIS & 23 Terrier Groups.  Congratulations to Bill, breeders Brendan & S Laing, and owners Ed & Lynn Yingling & Phil Davies.

THE FLORIDA MARATHON DAY ONE

The ten show, eleven day, Florida Marathon got underway today in Brooksville FL with the Manatee Kennel Club show.  The show was chockablock full of BIS winning dogs, but the seven who made it to Kenneth Falconi’s final were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline’s Chanel, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Chancellor High Flyin Gladiator, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Perrisblu Kennislain’s Chelsey, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Dalarno Nite Song At Morningstar.

Today’s BIS was Florida resident, the MinPin, Classie.  Classie gets the big head start on the field with a win worth 1500 points.  Classie and owner/handler Armando Angelbello almost made it to the Top Ten Dogs All Breeds last year, finishing Number 12 with 21 all breed Bests and 73 Toy Groups.  Congratulations to Armando, breeder Carole Ann Mohr-Rio, and owner Leah Monte.

FREDERICKSBURG VA DAY TWO

The Northern Neck Kennel Club Of Virginia had so much fun with their show yesterday that they did again today, this time with Mary Alston in the final ring.  Her special seven were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summit’s Emery It’s in the Bag, the 13“ Beagle, CH Durrisdeer’s Rudolpho, the Akita, GCH CH CR -Wicca’s Trade Secret, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH McVan's Be Bop Baby, the Maltese, GCH CH Scylla s Small Kraft Re-Lit, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Sugar Baby, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Bon-Clyde’s Take One.

Best went to the Miniature Poodle, Sugar Baby.  Sugar Baby & handler Kaz Hosaka had a good run in 2011, finishing as the Number Miniature Poodle (all breeds) with ten BIS & 59 Non-Sporting Groups.  Our congratulations to breeder/handler Kaz Hosaka and owners Ron Scott & Debbie Burke.

FREDERICKSBURG VA DAY ONE

Our first all breed show of the week is complete.  Today’s Northern Neck Kennel Club Of Virginia is the first of five shows at the Fredericksburg Expo & Convention Center in that Virginia town.  Dr Richard Greathouse’s seven finalists were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summit’s Emery It’s in the Bag, the American Foxhound, CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, the Irish Terrier, GCH CH Laochragh’s Clancy, a Pekingese from the Bred By Exhibitor class, Pequest Devon, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Sugar Baby, and the Bearded Collie, CH Briarpatch Just One Look HT.

One of the best things about shows in January is we meet many fresh faces in the ring.  One of those fresh faces the Peke, Devon, an 18 month old dog, was today’s Best In Show winner.  Bred, owned, & handled by Pekingese master, David Fitzpatrick, this fresh face is destined to become a familiar face.  A big congratulations to David.

AMERICAN SPANIEL CLUB

Founded in 1881, the American Spaniel Club is older than even the AKC.  While the all breed action was in Palm Springs this past weekend, the ASC was holding a family reunion in Knoxville TN. 

Valerie Brown, Billie Hayes, Doug Johnson, & Dr Bob Smith, went through over 500  Spaniels before sending the Boykin, GCH CH Sunseeker Pirate's Code, the GCH CH Rezod's Bad to the Bone, the Black Cocker, GCH CH Casablanca's Thrilling Seduction, the ASCOB Cocker, GCH CH Nickleby's Hero on the Hudson, the Parti-Color Cocker, GCH CH Afterglow Tristar, the English Cocker, CH Nonnies Dressed For Success, the English Springer, GCH CH Ocoee Dsqd With A Vengeance, the Field Spaniel, CH Nautica's Wind River Gold RN, the Sussex, CH Clussexx Pink Polka Dots WDX, JH, and the Welsh Springer CH Benton Ivy League, on to Marilyn Spacht to chose a Best Spaniel In Show.

Her choice was 2011’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Black Cocker Spaniel, Beckham.  It was the third consecutive ASC BIS for Beckham.  Beckham finished last year with 68 all breed Bests and 148 Sporting group top prizes, shattering all records for a Black Cocker.  Our congratulations to breeder/owner Linda Moore, owners Bruce Vandeman, Carolee Douglas, Mary Walker, & Cindy Cassidy, and handlers Linda  & Michael Pitt.

NOLAN RIVER KC DAY TWO

 We have been hampered today by airline restrictions and bad input from those that shall not be named, but we now have what we think are the correct results for theNolan River Kennel Club in Glen Rose TX.  Carolyn Herbel's final had a mix of familiar and new faces, day one BIS winner, the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View's Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Pharaoh Hound, Faouziah’s Faramir, the Samoyed, CH Pink Camilla, the Smooth Fox Terrier,  CH High Mtn Warfox Thundersnow, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH  Good Luck From We-Syng, the Keeshond, CH Mr. Chairman, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey Tails Of Mystery.

It was the GWP, Oakley, picking up the BACK2BACK BIS.  With three Sporting Dogs logging all breed Bests this week, looks like we are in for a fun year.

Although the Kennel Club of Palm Springs had the biggest numbers of the weekend, there were other venues to get an early start on the show year.  In the Midwest the place to be was St Paul MN where the Land of Lakes Kennel Club offered up a shot at over 3500 points.  Asking Charlotte Clem Mcgowan for a piece of the action on Saturday were the  English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the Whippet, GCH CH Lucy Is Fashionably Late JC, the Great Dane, GCH CH Lobato's Code Red, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlake's Simply Sinful, the Maltese, CH Chrismans Shiny Toy Gun, the Standard Poodle, CH Brighton Endevour, the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Rocheuses Me and My Shadow

Grabbing his first all breed Best of 2012 was the Bouvier, Casper.  Casper had a good year in 2011 finishing as the Number One Bouvier (all breeds) with six BIS & 29 Herding Group top prizes.  Casper was bred by Douglas W Johnson & Karen Brown, is owned by Frank & Corrine Dreyfus & M Johnson, and handled by Heather Johnson.  To them all we say, "Well Done!"

Casper & Colton were back on Sunday to see BIS judge Roger Hartinger. They were joined by the above named Springer, Border Terrier, & Maltese, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Hundeleben Queens Armada SL, the Samoyed, CH Hawkwinds Rocks The Gene Pool, and the Keeshond, GCH CH Karolina Bonnyvale Meant To Be.

Picking up his first BIS of the year was the English Springer Spaniel, Peyton.  Peyton ended up 2011 as the Number One English Springer Spaniel, the Number Two Sporting Dog, and the Number 13 Dog All Breeds, with 17 Bests In Show & 71 Sporting Group First awards.  Congratulations to breeders Billie, Erin, & Charlie Kerfoot & Ruth Kirby, owners Celie Florence, Beth Fink,  Erin Kerfoot, PhD, Ken Goodhue-McWilliams, PhD, & Delores Strength, and handler Robin Novack.

PALM SPRINGS WRAP UP

The big, big weekend on the Polo Grounds in Indio CA ended today with Robert Stein's final for the Kennel Club of Palm Springs.  The seven hoping for a jump on the rankings were the Weimaraner GCH CH Silhouette's LifeInTheFastLane, the  Whippet, GCH CH Starline's Chanel, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria's Wildwood Silver Six Pence, The Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Slyfox Sneaks a Peek, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Tamarin Top Banana, the Dalmatiain, GCH CH Kastle's Go Speed Racer, and the Australian Cattle Dog, GCH CH Carben Copy's If The Shoe Fits.

Taking home the heavy silver and the early bragging rights was the Kuvasz, Tanner.    Tanner & handler Diana Wilson finished the season as the Number  Nine Dog All Breeds with 18. Big rosettes & 70 Working Group top prizes.  Congratulations to Diana, breeders  Beatrice Page, Clay Page, Lynn Brady, & Constance Townsend, and owners Mercedes Vila, Lynn Brady, Constance Townsend, & Claudia Muir.

The Rubber City Kennel Club's day two show has wrapped with Ana Yuhazs ' final.   Her seven choices were the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Nonnies No Doubt, the Greyhound, GCH CH Gaia's Elfin Dance, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Magellan's I Want to be Your Man, the Norwich Terrier,  GCH CH Scalawag The Sherrif at Stetlands, the Yorkshie Terrier, GCH CH  Stratford's Diamond Jim, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotlight's Ruffian, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Quiche's Grand Finale.

Her Best was the Bouvier, Al.  Al & breeder/owner/handler Elaine Paquette put  three BIS & 19 Herding Groups on their 2011 list of accomplishments.  Congratulations to Elaine, co-breeders Louise Paquette, and owners Daniel & Juliana Garrison.

The Clemson Kennel Club wrapped up their weekend in Pendleton SC today with David Bolus' final.  His seven hopefuls were the GCH CH Reece Afterhours The Buck Stops Here JH, the Afghan Hound, CH Criston Enchanted, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH  Allure Envy Me Royalwoods v Schohaus, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe v Tani Kazari, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Sugar Baby, and the Puli, Cormaker, GCH CH Rumpus Bumpus.

It was the Affenpinscher, Joey, starting off the new year by adding yet another all breed Best to his already impressive resume.  Joey and handler Ernesto Lara garnered 33 BIS and 111 Toy Groups in 2011.  Congratulations to Ernesto, breeder/ owner Mieke Coohumans, and owner Zoila Truesdale.

The Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Bahama Sands made it two in a row  picking up her second BIS of the new year at today's Greater Daytona Dog Fanciers Association show.  Joining Tawny in Michele Billing's final were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Tender Is The Night, the Great Dane, GCH CH Longo Miler n Lore Diamond Lil, the Parson Russell Terrier, GCH CH Foxbend Colour Me More, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the Schipperke, GCH CH Dante Fire When Ready, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Sporting Fields Heiress HSAS.

We think it's kind of appropriate that a Whippet lead the charge out of the gates this year...Gonna be a fun January.

Saturday it was the Rubber City Kennel Club hosting in that city with Robert Slay finishing the day mulling over the Vizsla, GCH CH Artisan Grouse Point Pink Panther JH, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Whirlaways Ida Belle's A Ringing, the Boxer, GCH CH Bocas Royal Palms Splish Splash, the Lakeland, GCH CH Tallydale's Friend of the Force, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Austin Powers, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Chaoyang Take It To The Limit, and the Pyrenean Shepherd, GCH CH La Brise Sun Bear.

It was the Ridgeback, just shy of her second birthday, picking up her very first all breed BIS.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Jennifer Lazowski & Christine Kitsch, owner Lynn Fitzgerald, and handler Michelle Scott.

Texans joined the new year fun with the first of the Nolan River Kennel Club's two shows in Glen Rose TX.   Pat Mowbray-Morgan greeted the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View's Ripsnorters Silver Charm, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Vyrtuous Command Performance SC, the Samoyed, GCH CH Azteca's Pink Camilla, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Skyscot's Texas Hold 'Em, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Miletree North Star at Shirmont, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Borderframe Signature.

It was the GWP, oakley, grabbing his first brig rosette of the year.  Oakley and handler Phil Booth gathered seven all breed Bests & 43 Sporting Groups last year.  Congratulations to Phil, breeders/owners Claire Wisch & Kelly Wisch, and co-breeder Helen George.

Saturday's Kennel Club of Palm Springs show ended with all the excitement and glamor we expected.  Stephen Hubbell's final seven  included the English Setter, GCH CH Oakley's B'Dazzled, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline's Chanel, the Boxer, GCH CH R and G's Mystical Dancer,  Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Perrisblu Kennislain's Chelsey, the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Royalist Ready to Reign, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Australian Cattle Dog, GCH CH Carben Copy's If The Shoe Fits.
