LEWISBURG WV DAY THREE

GCH CH Reece Afterhours The Buck Stops Here JH  

We have a dinner engagement this evening with my daughter’s future in-laws, but we do have time for this report from Lewisburg WV and today’s Magic Valley Kennel Club show.   Ruth Prehn selected her BIS from the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Reece Afterhours The Buck Stops Here JH, the Otterhound, CH Corcragael Frazer Nash, the Boxer, GCH CH MaSue’s Virginia Gentleman Of Aria, the Norfolk Terrier, GCH CH Bigwig’s Mack The Knife, the Pekingese, GCH CH Oakhill’s Two Tiems The dragon, the Keeshond, GCH CH Trumpet’s It’s Good To Be King, and the Pembroke welsh Corgi, GCH CH Dalarno Nite Song at Morningstar.  She chose the GWP, Truman, as her Best.  Truman and Frank Murphy now have three BIS this year, all in the last seven weeks.

DECATUR IL DAY TWO

The competition continues to be tough in Decatur IL where the Sandemac Kennel Club was up today.  Merle Taylor saw the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Hundeleben Queen's Armada SL, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall I Dream of Style, the  Norfolk Terrier, GCH CH Max-Well‘s Diamond Thief, the Pekingese, GCH CH Windemere’s Dusting of White at Pevyne, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Cherokee Vindication..  His Best was the Dachshund, Cheese.  Cheese, the Number Six Hound in the US, now has four BIS & 14 Hound Groups in 2012.

DECATUR IL DAY ONE

The Champaign Illinois Kennel Club kicked off a four day stop in Decatur IL yesterday.  Carolyn Taylor had the day one final and the difficult task of deciding among the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Topsfield-Sanchu Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall I Dream of Style, the  Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlake Simply Sinful, the Pekingese, GCH CH Windemere’s Dusting of White at Pevyne, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Barnstorm's Grissom TTCSI, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Alkarah's Bossa Nova.  

She chose the nation’s Number Three Toy Dog, the Peke, Dusty.  Dusty has been on a roll (do Pekingese know any other way?) this year climbing all the way to the Number 15 All Breed spot with five BIS this year.

LEWISBURG WV DAY TWO

We hadn’t heard from last year’s Number One Dog All Breeds recently, the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Casablanca’s Thrilling Seduction, but he resurfaced today in Lewisburg WV to take home the Best In Show trophy at the day one show of the Magic Valley Kennel Club.  

Also asking Marilyn Spacht for the win were the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Torquay be Nice To Me, the Bernese Mountain Dog, GCH CH Little Mtn's 1 Shot Deal From Windy Knob, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Wonderlands Heavily armed Agitator, the Yorkshire Terrier, GCH CH Nicnak's Aftershock, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Starlight’s Spirits Bliss, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Homespun Casual Blues PT NA OAJ NF.  

Though Beckham and handler Michael Pitts have only made infrequent appearances in the show ring of late, they have still managed to collect 15 BIS this year, more than any other dog.

LEWISBURG WV DAY ONE

GCH CH Torquay Be Nice to Me  

Our show week started today in Lewisburg WV with the Beckley West Virginia Kennel Club’s day one show, the first of four shows in the historic West Virginia town.  The seven who stayed all day to see BIS judge Mark Kennedy were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Torquay Be Nice to Me, the Bullmastiff, GCH CH Eloc’s Stormin’ Norman, the Bedlington Terrier, GCH CH Lamz Viva Las Vegas RN JE, the Ruby & King Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Southdown Nevermind, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogelflight’s “Honor” to Pillowtalk, and the Briard, GCH CH Deja Vu Mia Chain Of Fools.  

Best went to the country’s Number One 15” Beagle, JR.  We have that as the second this year for JR and breeder/owner/handler Marcelo Chagas in eight final appearances.

DOWN ON THE BAYOU

Life is leisurely down on the bayou, but waiting a week for show results is pushing it a bit.  From Bossier City LA we have these results from last week.   It all started Thursday with the day one show of the Shreveport Kennel Club which ended with Elaine Mathis in the final ring with the English Springer Spaniel, CH Cerise Dixieland Duchess, the Redbone Coonhound, GCH CH Sidearm Jungle King Mufasa, the Samoyed, GCH CH Polar Mist Cruz'n T'Party At Zamosky, the Lakeland Terrier, CH Hi-Kel Terrydale Fortune Forward, the Maltese GCH CH Scylla's Small Kraft Re-Lit, the Keeshond, CH Ashbrook Mr Chairman, the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Vinterra´s Cause For Applause.  

Day one went to the Maltese, Hank.   That’s four this year for the country’s Number One Maltese.  

GCH CH Polar Mist Cruz'n T'Party At Zamosky  

The SKC did it again on Friday, this time with Gay Dunlap choosing the BIS.  Her options were the Pointer, CH Seasyde Edgehill Heart Of Gol, the Borzoi, GCH CH Wildwood Fiery Run Out Of My Dreams, the above named Samoyed & Lakeland, the Pekingese, GCH CH Benaires N Elphasuns Razzmatazz, the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Shilo Here for a Good Time, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Borderfame Signature.  

It was the Sammie, Cruz, picking up his second BIS of the year  Both of Cruz’ two BIS have come in the last month.

The rest of the weekend belonged to the D’Arbonne Kennel Club and the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt. View's Ripsnorter Silver Charm, who went home with both the Saturday & Sunday BIS. Saturday Denny Mounce chose Oakley over the Whippet, GCH CH Bo-Bett’ s Speed Demon, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Chancellor High Flyin Gladiator, the aforementioned Lakie & Maltese, the Dalmatian, CH Cottondale Timelessdals Fools Gold, and the Old English sheepdog, GCH CH To-Jo’s Sweet Tune Lanward.  

Sunday Gloria Geringer preferred Oakley to the Whippet, Bo-Bett’s Treasure Chest, the previously named Rottweiler, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Wedigit Paparazzi, the now familiar Maltese, the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Shilo time for a Good Time, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Row-Bar’s Heartbreaker.   

The two BIS plus three Group Ones earlier in the week in California, brings Oakley within 500 points of being Number One Dog All Breeds.  Are you having fun watching this?  Because we are having a ball.

NORTH ARKANSAS KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Aurora's The Song and Dance Man  

The North Arkansas Kennel Club spent the weekend in the Ozarks town of Harrison AR.  Joe Tacker’s final on Saturday featured the  English Springer Spaniel GCH CH Pullman's Circle Games Far Far Away, the Saluki, GCH CH Aurora's The Song and Dance Man, the Standard Schnauzer, CH Korppret's Friendly Persuasion., Norwich Terrier,  GCH CH Skyscot's Texas Hold'em, the Pug, GCH CH KNGZ Barney Rubble at PugaPoohs, the Lhasa Apso, CH Black Boots Hottest Chick There Is, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Eden Crowns Designer Label. 

His BIS was the Saluki, Sammy D.  It’s the second BIS of the year for Sammy D and owner/handler Julie Mueller.  Congratulations Julie, to breeders Jay Stone, Carol Waymire, & Barbara Wright and owner Eugene Blake.  

GCH CH Summerhill Pride & Prejudice  

On Sunday Joe Gregory saw the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Argo's Gem Seeker @ Sundown, the Wirehaired Dachshund, GCH CH Summerhill Pride & Prejudice, the above named Schnauzer, Norwich, & Pug, the Schipperke, GCH CH Daradan's Storm Chaser, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH GrandGables Jolie Victor Ludorum.  

Best went to the Dachshund, Mr Darcy.  It as his first Hound Group of the year and his first BIS ever.  Congratulations to breeder/owner John Fabelo, co-breeders  Barb Fabelo, Corrie Fabelo, & Chris Heitzmann Jr, owners Jeanette Koch & Mark Koch, and handler John Fabelo.

WATERLOO IOWA KC DAY TWO

GCH CH Summits Emery It's In The Bag  

We continue to nurse our dog show hangover (still unreported results) with this from Sunday’s Waterloo Iowa Kennel Club show.  Robert Schreve’s final seven included the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summits Emery It's In The Bag, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline’s Chanel, the Boxer, CH Ensign’s Justified, the White Bull Terrier, CH Imperials Truth Hurts, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Char’s Secret Obsession, the Bichon Frise, CH Height’s PDQ, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Frontier License to Carry at Margaux.  It was the Golden, Chloe, taking home her fourth BIS of the season, her second this month.  Did you notice that Chloe is now among the Top Twenty Dogs All Breeds at Number 17?

GRAND ISLAND KC

GCH CH Rocheuses Me and My Shadow of Cornus  

We start this morning with a dog show hangover.  We still have results outstanding from this past week.   From Grand Island NE comes the report on the Grand Island Kennel Club’s two shows.  Gene Blake’s final seven were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Scion Hott Pants RN, the Otterhound, GCH CH Riverspruce Yukon Jack, the Samoyed, CH Sammantic Only You, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Chyscotts Making an Entrance, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Pem We-Syng Lucky Mi, the Chow Chow, GCH CH Jidi The Great One at Rebelrun, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Rocheuses Me and My Shadow of Cornus.  

His BIS was the nation’s Number One Herding Dog, the Bouvier, Casper.  That’s Number Five this season for Casper and handler Heather Johnson.

Sunday Casper was back to see Jackie Stacy along with the same Golden, Otterhound, Chin, & Chow.  They were joined by the Boxer Illyrian’s Brandy Alexander, and the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Tontines Chance Redemption.  Her Best was the Chin, Mimi.  It’s the four BIS this year for our latest DOG2WATCH, all of which have come in the last five weeks.

LEWISTON ID DAY FOUR

GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore

The Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, joined the weekend’s multiple BIS winners today, adding the BIS from day two show of the Lewis-Clark Kennel Club, to her BIS from Thursday’s Palouse Hills Dog Fanciers show.  Rounding out Pat Trotter’s final were the English Setter, GCH CH Oakley’s B’Dazzled, Smooth Dachshund, GCH CH Spellbound 's You Go First, the Boxer, GCH CH R and G’s Mystical Dancer, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Alpine’s Highwayman, the Pekingese, CH Dunkirk Imagine That, and the Belgian Tervuren, GCH CH Sky Acres Flying Solo.  Ally’s sixth BIS of the season will not put her in the Top Ten…yet, but the foyer to that house is getting awfully crowded.

CATOCTON KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret  

We have a couple of Monday shows to report on.  First from Timonium MD we hear that Fr Brian Timby chose the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, as his Best In Show at today’s Catoctin Kennel Club show.  He might have chosen the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Tender Is The night, the Borzoi, GCH CH Raynbo’s Run for the Roses, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, the Papillon, GCH CH Involvo The King of Pop, the Lowchen, GCH CH Windsor Bihar Chasing Rainbows, and the Beauceron, CH Beowolf Rime Des Monts Du Lac.  

It’s the first BIS of the year for the four year old.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Joann Charnik & Carla Burke, owners Thomas Bavaria & Ann Bavaria, and handler Heather Bremmer. 

AFGHAN HOUND HAT TRICK

The big winner this week did not come from our Top 100 Dogs All Breeds.  The Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Mowgli, handled by breeder/owner Jay Hafford romped to three consecutive BIS this weekend in City of Industry CA.  You can read about Friday’s Burbank Kennel Club show here.  

Saturday Mowgli & Jay shared William Cunnigham’s final with the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood silver Six Pence, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Dytona’s VIP, the Chinese, Crested, GCH CH Dejavu I Want A Talk About Me, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Lebulls New Hope Wooly Bully, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Hatch Tillie de la Salsa.  

Sunday Bob Smith preferred Mowgli to the Weimaraner, GCH CH Silhouette’s LifeInTheFastLane, the Boxer, GCH CH Telstars All That Glitters At Cinnibon, the above named Mini Bull, Chinese Crested, & French Bulldog, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Allure at Wyndstar.    The three wins are Mowgli’s first of 2012, not a bad start.

CHIEF SOLANO KC DAY TWO

We return to our old neighborhood for a report on the day two show of the Chief Solano Kennel Club in Vallejo CA.  Robert Caswell had the closer and his choice of the Irish water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistle Stop's Wind on the Water , the Rhodesian Ridgeback CH Diablo’s Kona Force Of Nature, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Foxfire s Best To Come Along, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Friendship Hill Stars And Stripes, the Long Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Grace Marian Jp Maro, the Standard Poodle, Penndragon Owain, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Mariel’s harvest Moon.  

He chose the Scottie, Connor.  It’s the first BIS for Connor and handler Amy Rutherford in three final appearance this year  Congratulations to Amy and breeders/owners Margaret Browne & Patricia M Gallatin. 

LEWISTON ID DAY THREE

GCH CH R and G’s Mystical Dancer  

Our Monday Morning Mop Up continues out west in Lewiston ID where they are wrapping up a four day set today.  Yesterday’s Lewis-Clark Kennel Club show ended with Jon Cole considering the English Setter, GCH CH Oakley’s B’Dazzled, the Ibizan Hound, GCH CH Gryphon’s Time Keeper JC, the Boxer, GCH CH R and G’s Mystical Dancer, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Alpine’s Highwayman, the Pekingese, CH Dunkirk Imagine That, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Shetland Sheepdog, Mistybrook’s Panda Crossing.  

His Best was the Boxer, Danny.  Danny and breeder /owner/handler Kimberlie Steele-Gamero have been waiting for weeks to break into the Top Ten Dogs All Breeds.  Will this be the week?  We will wait for the results of today’s shows before we tell you.

FOND DU LAC COUNTY KC

GCH CH Max-Well’s Diamond Thief  

The Norfolk Terrier, GCH CH Max-Well’s Diamond Thief, jumped  on the multiple BIS win bandwagon this weekend, posting the BACK2BACK wins at the Fond Du Lac County Kennel Club’s two shows in their Wisconsin hometown.  

Joining Thief and breeder/owner/handler Suzy Kipp in Audrey Lycan’s final on Saturday were the Clumber Spaniel, CH Shogun's Im In N Thats That RN, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Topsfield-Sanchu Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, the Akita, GCH CH Buckridge's No Doubt About It, the Shih Tzu, Ista's Hurricane Chaser, and the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Ri Lee's Stellar Performance, and the Polish Lowland Sheepdog, CH Ponwood's Smoky.  

On Sunday Tim Catterson chose Thief out of a seven that included the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH  CH Edgewood Devilish Design, the above named Basset Hound, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Abadie's Wish Upon A Star, the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, CH Loujon Thornwood Little Jacob, the previously mentioned Tibetan Terrier, and the German Shepherd Dog, Celeste Of Ro Anne-Isle.  

We believe these are Thief’s first AKC BIS.  Congratulations to Suzy and her fellow breeder/owners Dylan Kipp & Barbara Miller.

TERRE HAUTE IN DAY FOUR

GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari  

We go now to Terre Haute IN where another of our Top Ten Dogs had a very good week.  The Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, grabbed his second big rosette of the set at yesterday’ s Bloomington Indiana Kennel Club show.  

Joining Joey in Christine Calcinari’s final were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargazr'n Wingfield Time Will Tell, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Field’s Bahama Sands, the Boxer, GCH CH Ho-Pa’s Grand Slam, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Vetset Kate Winsit, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Sporting Field’s Heiress HSAs.  

Joey started the week as the Number Eight Dog All Breeds.  BIS number nine & ten should improve on that.

CENTRAL OHIO KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici  

We start our Monday Morning Mop Up in Columbus OH where the country’s Number One Dog, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, picked up her 13th BIS of the year.  Also on hand in Dawn Hansen’s final at Sunday’s Central Ohio Kennel Club show were the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever, GCH CH Foxvale FoxBrooke Dare To Cruise, the Pharaoh Hound, CH TiaRa Ne-Kabu Abu Simbel Ankh, West Highland White Terriers, CH Bar One’s Semper Fi, the Brussels Griffon GCH CH Chismick's Lights On Broadway, the Bulldog, GCH CH B-Loved Nothing But Net, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Milestone’s Cool Summer Wind.

BALTIMORE COUNTY KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky  

Many of the heavyweights of the dog world were in Timonium MD this week for the big points and titles of the some of the nation’s most prestigious shows.  The seven that lined up for Col Joe Purkhiser’s final today were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH Ch Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CCH Celestial CJ’s All’s Well That Ends well, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Skansen’s Holy Knight, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, the Pug, GCH CH Riversong’s Doc Holiday, the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Kan Sing’s Tenzin, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Wolf Creek Galaxy Of Merivern.  

Today’s Baltimore County Kennel Club BIS was the Wire, Sky.  The appropriately named Wire has been on a meteoric rise since bursting on the scene the week after Westminster.  We suspect that when we tabulate this week’s numbers we will find that Sky’s sixth BIS will be good enough to put her in the Top Ten Dogs All Breeds.

SOUTH WINDSOR KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH D’s Remember When  

With five days of shows this week, we guess we shouldn’t be surprised to hear we have more multiple winners to tell you about, but then we have never had two BIS in one week.  Come to think of it, we have never had even one BIS.   

Today’s double dipper is the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH D’s Remember When, who took home his second BIS of the week in West Springfield MA.  Joining Jackson in Jean Fournier’s final at the South Windsor Kennel Club show were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Northwind’s First Reign, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Monkham’s Famous Grouse, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Larkspur Acadia Save Me a Spot, the Shih Tsu, GCH CH Wenshu‘s Shesa Dream, the Boston Terrier, GCH CH Windemere’s Mystify, and the Belgian Tervuren, GCH CH Mishaook Lulu At Chateau Blanc HSCs.   That’s five BIS in 11 finals for Jackson this year.

HEARTLAND DOG CLUB OF FL 2

First in from today’s shows is the Heartland Dog Club of Florida show in Sebring FL.  Anne Savory Bolus’ seven were the Golden Retriever, Alexander Romance Gold Legend, the Whippet, GCH CH Karasar's Remembrence, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Bardwoods Black Prince, the Skye Terrier, CH of Skyeline Captain Hook, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Marsdon Frankly Speaking, the Dalmatian, CH Spotlight Salutation, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Dalarno Nte Song at Morningstar.   Her Best was the Whippet, Britanee, taking home her third BIS of the year and her second this month.  The girl is on a roll.

WATERLOO KENNEL CLUB

As we work our way back to the East, we stop in Waterloo IA for a report on the hometown club’s Saturday show.  Ann Hearn saw the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summits Emery It's In The Bag, the Whippet, GCH CH Starline’s Chanel, the Boxer, CH Ensign's Justified, the Airedale Terrier, CH Epoch's Time Bandit, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Endor And Donandru's New Moon, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Monarch Rufkins Last Tango In Paris, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Bit O' Heaven's Sorceress.  BIS was the Whippet, Chanel.  The winningest Whippet in AKC history is taking a kind of victory lap this season, only showing sporadically before trying her hand at motherhood.  Hopefully you will see her before she retires.

Lewiston ID has drawn some of the best dogs in the US to its four day cluster this week.  Charles Trotter’s final at yesterday’s Palouse Hills Dog Fanciers included the English Setter, GCH CH Oakley’s B’Dazzled, the Otterhound, GCH CH Aberdeen’s Ultimate Addiction, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Charisma Maxim von Diable, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Alpine’s Highwayman, the Papillon, GCH CH McFriends Willing and Able, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Mistybrooks Panda Crossing.  His Best was the English Setter, Dazzle.  Her sixth BIS of the year ensures her position as the Number Ten Dog All Breeds.

Before we get into today’s results, let’s catch you up on some of yesterday’s shows.  As we wrote yesterday in our Back Story column over on Best In Show Daily,  the Saluki, GCH CH Jamora Mystic Topaz JC, joined a herd of Hounds and Herding Dogs winning BIS this week, taking home the top prize at yesterday’s Chief Solano Kennel Club in Vallejo CA.  

Rounding out Del Richards final were  the Flat-Coated Retriever, GCH CH Feathurquest Moonlight Sonata,  the Doberman, CH Foxfire’s Best to Come Along, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Friendship Stars and Stripes, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, CH Covington True Blood, a Standard Poodle from the Open Dog class, Pendragon Owain, and the German Shepherd Dog, Pendragon Owain; and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Suboja’s Army’s Soldier.  It’s the first all breed Best for the Saluki, Seabastian.   

Congratulations to breeders/owners Suzanne Forsyth, John Forsyth, Kim Anselmo, & Joyce Morrison.  Don’t you wish they showed all sight hounds at full gallop?
