GREENSBORO NC DAY THREE OF FIVE

GCH CH Protocol's Veni Vidi Vici

(Amended 9:15 AM 18 Aug 2012 We erroneously reported here yesterday that the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View's Ripsnorter, was defeated in the breed at Friday's Greater Hickory Kennel Club show.  The catalog was marked incorrectly.  Oakley was absent yesterday.  Our apolgies to Team Oakley for us repeating the error.)

As three of our Top Five Dogs All Breeds returned to the show ring today in Greensboro NC, I was sitting in the Memphis airport feverishly going over the AKC’s latest official numbers and updating our numbers through yesterday.  We knew that the race was close, but we had no idea how close.  By this evening our Top Three were closer than ever and a new Number One Dog had emerged.

While the numbers have not been huge in Greensboro NC (today’s BIS was worth 824 points) the competition has been as fierce as we have seen all years. The German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View's Ripsnorter Silver Charm was absent as his handler, Phil Booth, was attending his son's wedding.  Congrautlations to Phil and family!  The breed would be represented in the Sporting Group by his nephew, GCH CH Reece Afterhours The Buck stops Here JH. Truman would finish the day with a Sporting Group Three, watching the new Number One Dog All Breeds, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova,  advance to Stephanie Hedgepath’s BIS final.

Rounding out her seven were the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Criston’s Enchanted, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Boston Terrier, GCH CH Gunther’s Gussied Up Edna, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Jesstar’s Nirvana.

The RBIS would go to the Sheltie, Noah, while the big prize would go to the Doberman, FiFi.  It’s the second of the set and the 29th BIS of the year for FiFi and breeder/owner/handler Jocelyn Mullins.  Our congratulations to Jocelyn and a special shout out to Tem Peyton on moving into the top spot.  Congratulations to breeders Billie, Erin, & Charlie Kerfoot & Ruth Kirby, owners Celie Florence, Beth Fink,  Erin Kerfoot, PhD, Ken Goodhue-McWilliams, PhD, & Delores Strength, and handler Robin Novack.

GREENSBORO NC DAY TWO OF FIVE

GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari

The drama continued today in Greensboro NC today with the day two show of  the Danville Kennel Club.  Our Number One Dog All Breeds, the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, and the Number Two Dog, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova,  met once again, this time in Bonnie Linnell Clarke’s Sporting Group.  The GWP, Oakley, advanced to Betty Dale’s final while the Springer, Peyton, picked up the second spot.

GCH CH Criston’s Enchanted

Challenging Oakley for the win were the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Criston’s Enchanted, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Boston Terrier, GCH CH Gunther’s Gussied Up Edna, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker’s Rumpus Bumpus.

The Afghan, Rachel, picked up hers first RBIS, while the Number One Toy Dog, the Affenpinscher, Joey, grabbed the BIS.  It’s the 26th BIS for Joey, the Number Five Dog All Breeds.  He’s also had eight RBIS.  Where would he be if he got any extra points for those?

TOP DOGS GATHER IN NC

GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici
(Photo  by Lynda Beam)

We start our dog show week with a renewal of the head-to-head drama we have seen these past couple of weeks as four of the Top Five Dogs All Breeds gathered in Greensboro NC for today’s Danville Kennel Club show.

The excitement started early as the Number One Dog, the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, faced off with the Number Two Dog, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova in Stephanie Hedgepath’s final.  However, neither would advance as it would be the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Edgewood Casino Celebrity, who would advance, while the Springer, Peyton, & the GWP, Oakley, would pack up their Group Two & Group Three ribbons and head for the RV.

Joining Celine and handler Marcelo Veras in William deVilleneuve‘s final were the Number Three & Five Dogs, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, & the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari.  Rounding out the final seven were the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Lochnaw Something Good, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina, the Keeshond, GCH CH Sprookje Lunar Appellation HOF, and the Puli, GCH CH Rumpus Bumpus.
GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari
It would be the Affenpinscher, Joey, playing bridesmaid for the eighth time since the Reserve award went into effect, while the Doberman, FiFi, got to be the center of attention for the 28th time this year.   Whatdaya think?  Pretty exciting stuff for a Wednesday.

WHO'S NUMBER ONE?

GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova

This just in from Racine WI, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, has just collected another BIS at the Greater Racine Kennel Club show.  It was no walk in the park.  Peyton was challenged in the final by three Top Ten Dogs, the RBIS, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, and the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction..  Also on hand in Judy Webb’s BIS ring were the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Hundelben Queen‘s Armada, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlake Simply Sinful, and the German Shepherd Dog, Lockerhaus Cruz Director V Jada.

GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici

Peyton’s 31st BIS of the season makes the race for AKC’s Number One Dog a virtual tie.  While our standings boast a margin of error of 0.5 percent, our model has the Top Two Dogs separated by around 275 points a margin of 0.005 percent.  That’s what is call, in this Presidential election season, a statistical tie.  Nonetheless, we’ve never been afraid to take a stand.  We will tell you who we think is the Number One Dog All Breeds no later than Wednesday.

BACK2BACK BIS TIMES TWO

GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky

The lone offering west of the Rockies this weekend was in Lacy WA where the Nisqually Kennel Club held two shows.  The Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH AfterAll Painting the Sky, made the most of the set, taking home both of the BIS.

GCH CH Windemere;s Dusting of White at Pevyne

It was the second consecutive BACK2BACK BIS performance for the Number Four Dog All Breeds.  Sky and handler Gabriel Rangel now have 20 BIS.

MONDAY MORNING MOP UP

GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici

Thanks to our generous readers we were able to bring you most of this weekend’s shows as they happened, but we do have a few more reports to add here in our Monday Morning Mop Up.  Wisconsin fanciers started their weekend on Friday in South Milwaukee with the Cudahy Kennel Club and are finishing it up today in Racine courtesy of the Greater Racine Kennel Club.

GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare

So far our Number Three Dog All Breeds, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Protocol’s Veni Vidi Vici, has tallied two BIS and a Working Group Three.  Fifi’s first Best of the set came in Katie Gammill’s final on Friday.  Also competing for judge Gammill’s attention were the Vizsla, CH ReMark’s Inherit The Wind, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Topsfield-Sanchu Eenie Meenie Miney Moe,  the Miniature Schnauzer, CH Rampage;s fast And Furious, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Bit O’Heavens Sorceress PT RN, who picked up the Reserve award.

GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction

Saturday Judge Gammill would exercise that dog show axiom, “The Best Dog on the Day”, and give FiFi the Group Three, and send the Alaskan Malamute, CH Tugar’s America’s Most Wanted forward to Kent Delaney’s final.  Joining the Malamute were the Vizsla, GCH CH Regal Point Pinnacle Of Kilauea JH, the Saluki, GCH DC Chubasco Goldi Looks For Impala, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlake Simply Sinful, the above named MinPin & Poodle, and the Belgian Sheepdog, GCH CH Uri De Beauvoir.

His Reserve was the Standard Poodle, London, and his Best was the MinPin, Classie.  Classie is the country’s Number One MinPin, Number Two Toy Dog, & Number Seven Dog All Breeds with 17 BIS this year.

The whole crowd would pack up and move on to Racine for the GRKC’s two shows,  Sunday’s final fell to Sue-Ellyn Rempel who would pick FiFi out of a lineup that included the Vizsla, GCH CH Renaissance Pink Chacha (Did you notice that the Sporting Group One went to three different Vizslas?  We would have loved to have sat at that breed ring.), the Harrier, GCH CH Tallyho The Time Of My Life, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Homebrewed Page Three Girl, the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Loujon Thornwood Little Jacob, the Poodle, London, who was Reserve once again, and the German Shepherd Dog, Lockerhaus Cruz Director V Jada.

FiFi sits all alone in the Number Three spot, more than 11,000 point behind the two leaders and 9,000 point ahead of Number One, with 27 BIS.  We would advise our Top Two to remember to keep an eye on the rear view mirror.
