CHATTANOOGA KENNEL CLUB 2

While we wait for today’s results to come in we will return to last weekend and finish up.  Here in my home state the Chattanooga Kennel Club was in East Ridge TN for their two shows.  Read about Saturday’s show here.   

On Sunday Anne Katona pondered over the English Setter, GCH CH Lochlomond's Wrapped Up In You JH, the Saluki, GCH CH Sandstorm Blue Nile Bubbles of Jatara, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Veni Vidi Vici, the Colored Bull Terrier, Rocky Top's Outlaw Kid, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Stonehill Great Escape, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Bandog Bayou’s The Warrior, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Dalarno Nitesong at Morningstar.

The two left standing at the end of the day were the RBIS, the French Bulldog, Griffin, and the BIS, the Chihuahua, Stevie.  We don’t often get a BIS winning Chihuahua and when we do the gallery loves it and so do we.  This is Stevie’s first all breed BIS.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Randy Carr, co-breeder Cindy Allen, owner Tracy Potts, and owner/handler Patricia Holzkopf.

DAYS 1 & 2 IN HELENA MT

After 24 hours without a computer, we have a new laptop loaded with all our old files.  So, without further delay, let’s catch you up on what’s going on.  The only all breed shows these past two days have been the Gallatin Kennel Club’s two shows in Helena MT.  Despite the remoteness of the site, many of our top dogs showed up for a chance at scarce all breed points.

On Thursday Barbara Dempsey Alderman had the pleasure of choosing her Top Two from the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Charisma Maxim Von Diable, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Darwyn's I'm Not Arguing That, the Papillon, Salatino La Dame Sans Camelia, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lakota's Hitman of Cantar.    

The two she chose were the country’s Number Two Dog All Breeds, the GWP, Oakley, and the Standard Schnauzer, Max.  Oakley’s 49th BIS of the year will put him tantalizingly close to Number One.

Friday Oakley would be back, along with the above named Harrier, Welsh Terrier, and GSD.  Rounding out  Mark Houston-McMillan’s final were the Samoyed, GCH CH Glacier's N Rowdy's Czargent Trouble, the Pomeranian, Randy’s Huckleberry Friend, and the Bichon Frise, GCH CH PaRay’s Power & Privilege.   

Oakley would go home with the RBIS while the Welsh Terrier, Joe, would get his first AKC BIS.  Joe is the top winning Welsh Terrier in Canadian history with 28 BIS, but he is breeder/owner Larisa Hotchin’s first homebred AKC BIS winner.  Congratulations to Larisa and handlers Milton Lopes & Ash Oldfield.

MISSISSIPPI STATE KC DAY TWO

The Mississippi State Kennel Club held their two shows this past weekend in the Mississippi State Capital of Jackson.  You can read about Saturday’s show here.  On Sunday the seven who sought to impress BIS judge Ronald Rella were the English Setter, Set'R Ridge's Dirty Dancing, the 15” Beagle, K-Run's We Could Have Had It All Around, the Boxer, CH Moon Valley Momentum, the Glen of Imaal Terrier, GCH CH Finnabair Song O'My Heart, the Pekingese, GCH CH Benaires N Elphasuns Razzmatazz, the Tibetan Terrier, Kimik’s Sir Gawain, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Karosel Kartwheels.

The two who did were the Sheltie, Maddie, who took the BIS and the Peke, Razz, who took home the RBIS.  It’s the first BIS for Maddie.  Congratulations to breeders Jennifer Brough, Cheryl Kessler & Robin McTaggart, owners Dina Planche, Kathleen Schmutz & Denise Hine, and handler Lois DeMers.

We had another BACK2BACK BIS performance this weekend in Amarillo TX at the Saturday & Sunday shows of the Panhandle Kennel Club of Texas.  You can win about the first BIS by the Chow Chow, GCH CH Padow’s Twillight Embrey In a New Moon at Asans, here.  On Sunday Embery was  Dana Cline’s Best over the Vizsla, GCH CH Regal Point Pinnacle Of Kilauea JH, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Sole Trader Maggie May at M&M, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Chancellor High Flyin’ Gladiator, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Skyscots Texas Hold’Em, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH  Miletree Northern Star at Shirmont, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey’s Tails of Mystery.

The Norwich Terrier, Decker, added the RBIS to his already formidable resume.  Embrey has  only recently joined handler Michael Brantley and he already has three BIS to show for it.  He finished the weekend with Three Non-Sporting Groups, one RBIS, & two BIS.  He’s our second DOG2WATCH of the day!  Look for him at a show near you.

PRESCOTT ARIZONA KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Clussexx Collaboration With Traddles  

We are heading out west to Chino Valley AZ for our next show report.  The Prescott Arizona Kennel Club gave us two shows this past weekend.  Carl Lipemann’s final on Saturday featured the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Collaboration With Traddles, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Mastiff, CH DandyLion’s Blowin It Out Da Box, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Dytona VIP, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Cashnross' First Griff Tina Fey, the Bulldog, GCH CH Mytoys Epic Against the Wind, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Handheims Executive Flier.  

The Clumber, Seymour, & the Harrier, Chet, picked up the Best In Show & Reserve.  That’s number seven this year for the Clumber from Columbia.

On Sunday Seymour & Chet would be back to try again for the top prize, this time with Col Joe Purkhiser.  Joining them were the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Alcan Come Snodanc With Me, the Lakeland Terrier, CH Hi-Kel Terrydale Fortune In My Eyes, the Pomeranian, GCH CH CR Chase What Matters, the Standard Poodle, CH Vetset BlueSkies Zenyatta, and the previously mentioned GSD.

Chet would pick up his second BIS of the week (the first came in Amarillo TX on Thursday) and the Malamute, Tango, would take the RBIS ribbon home.  Chet is the Number Two Hound in America with 12 all breed Bests this season.

The final at last Sunday’s Moore County Kennel Club Of North Carolina was called by Michele Billings.  She chose her Top Two from the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Nautica’s Wind River Gold RN, the Afghan Hound, Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Great Dane, GCH CH Longo Miller N Lore Diamond Lil, the Welsh Terrier, CH Shaireab's Bayleigh Maid Of Honor, the Italian Greyhound, GCH CH Integra‘s Masquerade Party, the Xoloitzcuintli, Tecoman (Avalos), and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Wolf Creek Galaxy Of Merivern.

Repeating their Saturday wins were the RBIS, the Field Spaniel, Hudson, and the BIS, the Great Dane, Scout.  DOG2WATCH Scout now has nine BIS on the year.  We love it when we get it right.

The Three Rivers Kennel Club chose  Marjorie Martorella to close their two day set at Purina Farms in Gray Summit MO on Sunday.    The seven staying to the very end were the Spinone Italiano, GCH CH Darby Canyon Mick Jagger, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Vongay’s-Rubears Black Velvet Wrap SL, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Blackhawk Finnegan's Wake, the Norfolk Terrier, CH Barnstable Bold Over, the Pug, GCH CH House Poory JP Yum-Yum Zerohour, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Chaoyang Bestofmy Love At Asia, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, CH Eden's Crowns Designer Label.

Taking home the Reserve was the Pug, and grabbing another  BIS was the Standard Schnauzer, Finn.  Finn has been flawless in the last month, with three consecutive Working Group wins at the huge Santa Barbara CA shows and a BIS at the prestigious Saturday Santa Barbara Kennel Club show, and a BIS at the Mid-Kentucky Kennel Club show in Lexington KY.  That’s good enough for us to say Finn is a DOG2WATCH.  Congratulations to breeders Paul & Rhonda Davis, owners Lonnie Studley & Kimberly Studley, and handler Joduy Paquette.

The two she preferred were her RBIS, the Mastiff, and her BIS, the Dachshund, Cheese.  Cheese and breeder/owner/handler Carlos Puig have collected seven BIS & an admirable 35 Hound Groups.

We are going to bounce out to Farmington UT tell you about the Bonneville Basin Kennel Club’s two shows.  The two all breed shows were preceded by six limited breed shows showcasing the Working, Toy, & Terrier groups.  Dawn Hansen had Saturday’s final and the company of the Weimaraner, GCH CH Silhouettes LifeInTheFastLane, the Whippet, GCH CH Endeavor's White Roses on Nysa Hill, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Angranian Derry Mucker, the Toy Fox Terrier, GCH CH Jane's Christmas Gift, the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Shilo Time For A Good Time, and the Belgian Sheepdog, GCH CH Sanderle Kindred R.

Day one’s top two were the RBIS, the Belgian Sheepdog, Jackson, and the BIS, the Kuvasz, Tanner.  Tanner is holding down the Number Seven Dog All Breeds spot with 15 BIS, three so far this month.

Sunday, the Weimaraner & the Tibetan Spaniel would be the only of Saturday’s finalists to return to the final ring to plead their case with BIS judge Faye Strauss.  Joining them were the Rhodesian ridgeback, CH Raquel Welch Of Malabo APD, the Boxer, GCH CH Sapphires Violet Sky In Vegas Of Streamline, the Miniature Bull Terrier, CH Kingsmere Rambunctious Romeo, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Xeralane’s On With The Music, and the Shetland Sheepdog, Paramount Dreams From The Heart.

Finishing one/two were the Weimaraner, Jimmie, and the Boxer, Zooey.  Jimmie is the Number One Weimaraner all systems and the Number Five Sporting Dog with three all breed Bests & 16 Sporting Groups this year.

MANITOWOC COUNTY KC DAY TWO

GCH CH Moremi  Matter of Fact

Bev Capstik had a varied and very worth seven in her final Sunday for the Manitowoc County Kennel Club show in that Wisconsin town.  They were the American Water Spaniel, GCH CH Waterway Game Crk Hot Diggity JH, the Bloodhound, CH The Magpie's Heebie Jeebie Blues, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Gamegards Lady Hawke, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Homebrewed Page Three Girl RN, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country Tag I’m It, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Ri Lee's Stellar Performance, and the Puli, GCH CH Moremi  Matter of Fact.

The two that impressed her were the Pug, JJ, who took home the RBIS and the Puli, who took home the BIS.  We believe this may be the first BIS for the seven year old Puli.  Congratulations to breeders Patty Anspach & S McConell and owner/handler Barbara Pessina.

We continue our weekend reports with the results of Sunday’s Licking River Kennel Club show in Lancaster OH.  Dr Judith Newton chose her BIS & RBIS from the Pointer, GCH CH Oncore Mykyna Storm, the 13” Beagle, GCH CH Windkist Bossa Nova, the Great Dane, GCH CH Lobato’s Code Red, the Welsh Terrier, CH Darwyn Esmeralda in Sanherpinc, the Pekingese, GCH CH Oakhill's Two Times The Dragon, the Standard Poodle, De La Passion Whodunnit? By Request , and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Homespun Casual Blues PT NA OAJ NF.  

Her one/two were the Beagle, Maks, and the Welsh Terrier, Esmeralda.  It’s the first BIS for 21 month old Maks.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Leah Bertagnolli and owner/handler Cynthia Stahle.

June Penta closed the two day weekend in Goodells MI .  Her final for the St Clair Kennel Club included the Golden retriever, GCH CH Summits Emery It's In The Bag, the Afghan Hound, CH Mahali Rustic Front Paige News, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Kenro’s Witching Hour, the Miniature Schnauzer, GCH CH Allaruth Just Kidding v Sole Baye, the Havanese, CH Marcosa's Slip Slidin' Away, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Jaset’s Satisfaction, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Grandgables The Frat Boy.

The two she liked the Best were her the RBIS, the Havanese, Slider, and the Schnauzer, Justin.  Mark that down as Justin’s eighth BIS of the year.  You’re gonna want to follow my ringside reports form Montgomery County Kennel Club show this year.

WENATCHEE KENNEL CLUB

In the Pacific Northwest the place to be this weekend was Cashmere WA with the Wenatchee Kennel Club.  Their Saturday final saw Pamela Peat pondering over the Brittany, GCH CH Mich's Mt Ready Aim Fire, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Stormhill's Sweet Dreams of Rafica, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Charisma Maxim Von Diable, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Alpine’s Highwayman, the Papillon, CH Jareaux Rip It Up La Ren, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Blue Isle's Bourree.

Day one’s one/two were the AmStaff Jelly, and the Standard Schnauzer, Max.  Jelly is AKC’s Number One American Staffordshire Terrier and the Number Five Terrier with ten BIS this year.

Sunday the Weimaraner, GCH CH Diamond MK The Eagle Has Landed, and the Whippet, GCH CH Starline’s Chanel JC, would be joined by Jelly and the four other Saturday finalists in Carl Anderson’s BIS ring.  GCH CH Blue Isle's Bourree

Coming out on top were the Aussie, Junior, who received the RBIS and the Poodle, Ally, who got the BIS, Ally is the country’s Number Two Standard Poodle, Number Two Non-Sporting Dog, and Number 14 Dog All Breeds (It’s a tough neighborhood) with 15 BIS.

We are going to head out West to our former neighborhood in the San Francisco Bay area for our next report.  The Sir Francis Drake Kennel Club has more than the prestigious name going for it.  It was this weekend’s largest draw with nearly 3000 entries for the two days in Vallejo CA.  

On Saturday the seven dogs hoping to persuade Michael Dachel to give them all those points were the  English Setter, GCH CH Oakley’s B’Dazzled, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Vin-Melca’s The Norseman, the Boxer, GCH CH R and G’s Mystical Dancer, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Friendship Hill Stars And Stripes, the Brussels Griffon, CH Paragons Sharp Dressed Man At Greengates, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Sunclipse Mystique, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Allure At Wyndstar.

The dog getting the points was the Corgi, Allie.  The dog getting the Reserve ribbon was the Griff, Sharpie.  Allie is the country’s Number One  Pembroke Welsh Corgi with six BIS this year, two in the last four weeks.

Sunday Allie and her fellow Saturday finalists, the English Setter, Dazzle, & the Boxer, Danny,  made it back to see Sheila Polk along with the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Thaon’s Mowgli, the Irish Terrier, GCH CH Rockledge McCallen of Meath, the Pekingese, GCH CH Widemere Dusting of White at Pevyne, and the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Pendragon Owain.

Finishing off the weekend in style were the RBIS, the Peke, Dusty, and the BIS, the afghan, Mowgli.  Mowgli has been on an incredible roll of late collecting four of his eleven BIS in the last six weeks.

Our next report comes in from Lockport NY, the site of this weekend’s Kennel Club of Niagara Falls two shows.  You can read our report on Saturday’s show here.  Col Jerry Weiss’ final seven were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Northwind's First Reign, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Tioka's American Ride, the Norfolk Terrier, CH Yarrow Venerie Ticket to Ride, the Havanese, CH Riverhills The Fifth Element At XTC, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogelflights “Honor” to Pillowtalk, and the Polish Lowland Sheepdog, Swancrest The Power Of Love Eternal .  

His Reserve & Best were the Bichon, Honor, and the Norfolk.  It’s the first for the 16 month old dog, whose grandmother, CH Cracknor Cause Celebre, was the 2003 AKC/Eukanuba National Champion.  Congratulations to breeders Beth Sweigart & Pam Beale, owners John Beale & Pamela Beale, and handler Roxanne Sutton.  Maybe one of them would like to send us a photo to commemorate the event?

TWO DAYS IN MACUNGIE PA

The Lehigh Valley Kennel Club and the Berks County Kennel Club were in Macungie PA for the weekend.  The LVKC was first up on Saturday and put Susan St John Brown in the final ring with the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca's Trade Secret, the Irish Terrier, GCH CH Laochragh's Clancy, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Banana Joe V Tani Kazari, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CHC Surrey Sugar Baby, and the Puli, CH Mitonka As Good As It Gets.

Her Top Two were the RBIS, the Poodle, Sugar Baby,  and the GWP, Oakley.  Oakley’s 48th BIS of the year will keep the Number Two Dog All Breeds on the heels of the Number One.

Six of Saturday’s finalists would return on Sunday to see Thai judge Ekarat Sangkunakup, joined by the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Lomondview Clementina.

The Scottie, Phoebe would take home the RBIS and the Akita, Trader, would pick up the BIS.   Trader is the US’ Number One Akita with five BIS this year, three of which have come in the last two months. Trader’s handler Heather Bremmer has a long association with owners, Ann and Tom Bavaria.  Before she began handling their BIS Akita, the then junior handler was their babysitter of choice for their son.    Now there’s a handler you can trust!

MONDAY MORNING MOP UP

We will begin our Monday Morning Mop Up in New England with the Cape Cod Kennel Club who closed the four day set in Falmouth MA on Sunday.  The final final seven were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Wynmoor Champagne Supernova, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Bahama Sands, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Northstar's Hit The Deck Running RN, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Larkspur arcadia Save Me a Spot, the Pekingese, GCH CH Yakee Easily Persuaded, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotlight’s Ruffian, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Bon-Clyde’s Take One.

Walter Sommerfelt’s top two picks were the BIS, the Springer, Peyton, and the Reserve, the Whippet, Tawny.  Peyton finishes the week with the hat trick, taking three of the four shows in Falmouth MA.  That’s 41 BIS this year for the nation’s Number One Dog All Breeds.

AMARILLO TX DAY THREE OF FOUR

The Panhandle Kennel Club of Texas is in day four in Amarillo TX.  Yesterday’s day three final had Dr Alvin Krause looking over the Vizsla, GCH CH Regal Point Pinnacle Of Kilauea JH, the Smooth Dachshund, CH Joy-Dens Ch-Ching-Cha-Ching, the Newfoundland, CH Kilyka's Better Hide Your Heart Girl RN, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH WeDigit Paparazzi, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Miletree Northern Star at Shirmont, the Chow Chow, CH Dreamland’s Haute Couture, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey’s Tails of Mystery.

The Smooth Fox, Paparazzi, pounced on the Reserve award as the Chow, Embery, took the Best In Show.  It’s his seond this year.

Our southern offering this weekend is in Jackson MS with the Mississippi State Kennel Club.  Larry Terricone had Saturday’s final and his pick of the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Shadowland's Paws For Applause At Tristar RN, the Whippet, GCH CH Snow Hill Beatrix Soul Delight JC CA, the Boxer, CH Moon Valley Momentum, the Glen of Imaal Terrier, GCH CH Finnabair Song O'My Heart, the Maltese, GCH CH Scylla Small Kraft Re-Lit, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dacun Kaylen's He's A Heartbreaker, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Karousel Kartwheels.   

His top two were the Sheltie, who received the RBIS, and the Maltese, Hank, who copped the  BIS.  Hank is the country’s Number One Maltese and Number Three Toy Dog with ten  BIS & 38 Toy Groups this season.

GCH CH Stargazr'n Wingfield Time Will Tell  

Meredith Johnson-Snyder  had the day one final for the Licking River Kennel Club in Lancaster OH yesterday.  The seven she saw were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargazr'n Wingfield Time Will Tell, the 13” Beagle, GCH CH Windkist Bossa Nova, the Great Dane, GCH CH Lobato's Code Red, the Airedale terrier, GCH CH Bleu By You, the Pekingese, GCH CH Oakhill's Two Times The Dragon, the Boston Terrier, CH Weywood's Knockout Kismet, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Aryakas Hermes.

The Boston, Kissy, collected the Reserve award and the English Setter, accepted the Best In Show.  Our DOG2WATCH Trevor now has 13 BIS in 34 final appearances this year.  That’s a pretty impressive batting average.
