Finishing one/two were the Shih Tzu, Liz,  and the Lakeland.  It’s the first BIS for the 22 month old Shih Tzu bitch in six final appearances.  Our congratulations to breeder Anna Maybin and owner /handler Haley.

GCH CH Soletrader Maggie May

Sunday Marcy Spalding would see the same Golden, Lakeland, Shih Tzu, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Soletrader Maggie May, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Skansen’s Harvard, the American Eskimo Dog, GCH CH Nuuktok's Atka Inukshuk, and the German Shepherd Dog, Heidelberg's Austin V Melissa.  She would go with PBGV, Maggie, as her Reserve, and the Lakeland, Dru, as her Best.  Dru and handler Scott Sommer have three BIS in 15 final appearances this year.  We are a sucker for a redhead.

We have been reminded that we have not yet reported out on Sunday’s Souhegan Kennel Club show.  We do have several of last week’s shows still to cover, but we will get to them.

GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire

Delores Burkholder had the closer in Fitchburg MA for the SKC.  Staying to the very end of the four day set were the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Monkham’s Famous Grouse, the Akita, GCH CH Hikay’s Witch With Attitude, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Larkspur Acadia Save Me A Spot, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Kimro’s Dora The Explorer, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Tres Beau Going My Way, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Windfall Slam Dunk.

Taking the Reserve award was the IWS, Riley, while the Lakeland, Spot collected his second BIS of the set.  That’s Number 18 this season for the country’s Number Three Terrier.

GCH CH Brighton Lakeride Encore

Our next stop is Napa CA where the invitingly named Wine Country Kennel Club held sway for two days.  Matching the elegant location was the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, who too both of the BIS back to her Washington state home.

Dr Donald Sturz had the day one final and chose Ally as HIS BIS and the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Absolutely Out of Sight, as his RBIS.  Also putting their best paw forward were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Silhouette’s LifeInTheFastLane, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Vin-Melca’s The Norseman, the Saint Bernard, GCH CH Lasquite’s Denver V Lucas, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Victory Spencer, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Allure at Wyndstar.

Sunday Keke Kahn chose Ally and the above named Corgi as her top two.  Her other options included the previously seen Weimaraner, Elkhound, & Saint Bernard, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Hi-Kel Terrydale Fortune In My Eyes, and the Toy Fox Terrier, GCH CH Barbary’s That’s So Raven.

Ally and handler Tim Brazier have maintained a more relaxed schedule this year than most of our Top Twenty, but have been doing quite well, with 21 BIS in 60 finals this year.
