CHECKING IN ON KALAMAZOO

GCH CH Kenro’s Witching Hour

We now return to Kalamazoo MI, one of the two sites this past week that hosted five all breed shows.  When we last visited the Western Michigan Apple Blossom Cluster, we told you that the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Mt View’s Ripsnorter Silver Charm, was BIS at Thursday’s Pontiac Kennel Club show and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Stonepillar's Steel Blu, was BIS at Friday’s Holland Michigan Kennel Club show.  Here’s what happened the last three days.

GCH CH LTO Prosperity

The Grand Rapids Kennel Club had the coveted Saturday spot and they put Spike Ogarek in the final ring with the American Water Spaniel, GCH CH Waterway Game CRK Hot Diggity JH, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Insight’s Illusionist SL, Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Kenro’s Witching Hour, the Cairn Terrier, CH CYNTU’S Twist N Shout, the King Charles & Ruby English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH LTO Prosperity, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Bret D N Engine Co To The Rescue, and the Australian Cattle Dog, GCH CH Kokopelli’s Sobe It.

His BIS was the Giant, Dora, and his RBIS was the Toy Spaniel, Prosperity.  Dora started the week as the country’s Number One Giant Schnauzer, Number Three Working Dog, and Number Nine Dog all Breeds.  When we load all the numbers from the holiday weekend, she may be better than that.

Stephanie Hedgepath had the final for Sunday’s Kalamazoo Kennel Club show.  The seven dogs she considered were aforementioned AWS, Digger, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Silhouette's AU Fish, the Samoyed, CH Storytale's Past Present & Future, the Russell Terrier, GCH CH Goldsands Columbus, the Blenheim & Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, CH Chaseland's Howard Glodek, the Bichon Frise, Cher Ami's Toast With Remy Martin, and the same Cattle Dog.

CH Chaseland's Howard Glodek

Best went to the AWS, Digger.  Reserve went to the Toy Spaniel, Howard.  Digger is the top winning American Water Spaniel of all time with seven all breed Bests.   It’s the first of  2013 in 13 final appearances for Digger and breeder/owner/handler Linda Hattrem.   Congratulations to Linda and breeders/owners Jon Hattrem & Pamela Boyer, and owners Mr & Mrs John Rose.

GCH CH Goldsands Columbus

The seven dogs that stayed to the end of the Greater Muskegon Kennel Club’s Monday show were the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH PBJ’s Fearless, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Elmo’s Martian Chronicles, the Newfoundland, CH Pouch Cove's Seabrook Enough Said, the previously seen Russell Terrier, Bosse, the Toy Spaniel, Prosperity, the Dalmatian, CH Mapleaf Don't Stop Believin in Sun Runner, and Friday’s BIS winner, Blu.

GCH CH Stonepillar's Steel Blu

Ann Hearn’s BIS was Bosse, the Russell.  Her RBIS was the Bouvier, Blu.  Bosse is the nation’s Number One Russell, the only Russell Terrier to win an AKC BIS, the Number Two Terrier, and the Number Eight Dog All Breeds, with nine BIS & 39 Terrier Groups.  We suppose he might be even higher if they gave points for RBIS, but they don’t.
