REVISITING THE MONTANA MARATHON

As we look over our inbox this morning we see we have left you hanging with our reports from the Montana Marathon, eight shows in eight days that started on June 18th.  When we last visited our eager travelers on the 21st , they were in Great Falls MT at the day one show of the Electric City Kennel Club.

Judge Linda Scanlon had the ECKC’s closer on Saturday, the 22nd, and her pick of the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash's Ruggedly Handsome, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Tiburon Arsenal, the Smooth Fox Terrier, CH Absolutely Talk of the Town, the Maltese, CH Rhapsody's Someone Like You, the Bulldog, GCH CH Newcomb's Pandemonium @ Beda, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Tang Dynasty Rocky.

Her BIS was the Bulldog, Panda, and her RBIS was the Brittany, Beckett.  Panda is the latest charge of handler Jay Serion, who has handled multi BIS Bulldogs before.  This was Panda’s first BIS in eight final appearances this year.  Congratulations to Jay, breeders/owners Brenda Newcomb, Claire Johnson, Beverly Long, and owner Landon Jordan.

Panda and the rest of our ambitious road trippers were in Missoula on Sunday for the Five Valley Kennel Club’s first of three shows.  Panda and the Smooth Fox, Taylor, were the only of Saturday’s finalists to make it to Pluis Davern’s BIS ring.  They were joined by the Weimaraner, GCH CH Simpatico Equal Justice, the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Osiris Cowboy Casanova, the Akita, GCH CH Stardust's See You At The Show, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Tamarin Tarheel, and the Shetland Sheepdog,       CH Mistybrooks Panda Crossing.

It was another dog named Panda who was judge Davern’s BIS, the Sheltie.  The RBIS went to the Akita, Nick.  It’s also the first BIS for this Panda.  Congratulations to breeder Jan Williams and owner/handler Shannalee Michalsky.

On day two in Missoula, BIS judge Barbara Dempsey Alderman considered the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Collaboration with Traddles, the same Harrier, Chet, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Highwood's Call of The Wild, the Miniature Bull Terrier, Dytona VIP, the previously seen Affenpinscher, Tarheel, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Vaje's Jethrene Bodine, and the aforementioned Border Collie, Rocky.

Finishing one/two were the kennelmates, the Affenpinscher, Tarheel, and the MiniBull, Simon.  It’s the first BIS for Tarheel and handler Jorge Olivera, who also has handled the multi BIS winning CH Tamarin Tug and GCH CH Tamarin Top Banana.  Congratulations to Jorge, breeders Tamarin Kennels (Jacqueline & Terry Stacy), and owners Ann & Gary Schultz.

Edd Bivin was at the finish line to greet the seven who made it to the end of the eight day marathon, the now familiar Clumber, Harrier, Akita, Smooth Fox, Affenpinscher, Bulldog, & Border Collie.

The two he would send home with his top prizes were the Clumber, Seymour, and the Smooth Fox, Taylor.  The win was Seymour's seventh in 42 trips to the final ring this year.  is the US’ Number One Clumber, Number Two Sporting Dog, and Number Six Dog All Breeds.
