MARYLAND KC DAY ONE

The Maryland Kennel Club is in West Friendship MD this weekend for two shows.  Today’s final featured Patti Widick Neale and the Irish Setter, GCH CH Northwoods First Reign, the Whippet, GCH CH Artemis Hypnotic Opium SC, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Sharjets Starr Catcher CD RN CGC, the Norfolk Terrier, GCH CH Yarrow Venerie Ticket To Ride, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Smash Jp Sakura, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Vogelflight’s “Honor” to Pillowtalk, and the Briard, GCH CH  Deja Vu Mia Cool As A Cucumber.

It was the smallest among them taking the BIS, the Toy Poodle, Sakura.  The Briard, Dill, took home the Reserve.  It’s the second of the year for Sakura and handler Kaz Hosaka, equaling their 2012 record already.

GCH CH Heywire’N Highfield’s Hey Look Me Over

We just told you about the BIS won by the daughter of the top winning Bearded Collie of all time.  Now we hear from Winter Haven FL that the German Wirehaired Pointer, GCH CH Heywire’N Highfield’s Hey Look Me Over, daughter of the top winner, GCH CH Ripsnorter's Mt View Lookout JH, has picked up the BIS at today’s  Lakeland Winter Haven Kennel Club show.

Joining Heyleigh and handler Frank Murphy in Beverly Vics’ final were the Greyhound, GCH CH GrandCru Caymus, the Great Dane, GCH CH Raintree Erinwood Dixie For Heaven’s Sake, Her RBIS, the Australian Terrier, GCH CH Temora Ri Diercc, the Papillon, GCH CH Wildfire On The Recored, the French Bulldog, CH Bandog Major League Homerun At TX Star, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Wolf Creek Galaxy Of Merivern.

It’s the first BIS for Heyleigh, who will turn three next month.  Congratulations to Frank, breeders Judy Cheshire & Doug Ljungren & Bernee Brawn, and owners Pam & Larry Kincaid & Bernee Brawn.

It was day two in Greenville SC and Delores Burkholder had the final for the Spartanburg Kennel Club.  Her powerhouse seven were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Starlight Express, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Pandora’s Box, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek Impression de Matisse, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Overtops And The Winner Is, and the Rough Collie, GCH CH Rainbow’s Rising Karma at Weston.

Her top two were her BIS, the Welsh Terrier, Jennie, and the RBIS, the MinPin, Classie.  It’s the second of the year for Jennie in six attempts.

HARTFORD CT DAY ONE

First in today with results is the very non-canine sounding First Company Governor's Foot Guard Athletic Association.  Charles Trotter had today’s final in Hartford CT and his pick of the Irish Water Spaniel, GCH CH Whistlestop’s Riley on Fire, the Borzoi, GCH CH Greyhaven This Rough Magic SC, the Bullmastiff, GCH CH Nobleboss Scottish Lad, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Larkspur Arcadia Save Me A Spot, the Pug, GCH CH Foursquare I'll Be A Shostopa Tu, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH L’Etoile’s It’s All about Me, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Dunhill’s Celebration.

Grabbing the BIS was the Beardie, Olivia, while the the Lakeland, Spot, took home the Reserve ribbon.  It’s the first BIS this year for Olivia in four final apperances, who is the daughter of the top winning Bearded Collie of all time, GCH CH Tolkien Raintree Mister Baggins.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Carolyn O'Neil & Ray Harrington and handler Cliff Steele.

GCH CH Dreamland's Wanna Be A Billionaire

Only in the dog world would you find the inexplicable segue from the granite canyons of Manhattan to the rugged peaks of Colorado, but that’s how it happens every year.  The Westminster competitors catch their breath on Wednesday and head for Denver on Thursday for the Rocky Mountain cluster, four shows hosted by the Plum Creek Kennel Club Of Colorado and the Colorado Kennel Club.

Jon Cole had the final at today’s PCKCC opener.  His super seven were the Brittany, Ruggedly Handsome, the Harrier, GCH CH Downhome Hitech Innovator, the Kuvasz, GCH CH Szumeria’s Wildwood Silver Six Pence, the Miniature Schnauzer, CH Kruse's High Interest, the Pomeranian, AC Dynasty Dream Works, the Chow Chow, GCH CH Dreamland's Wanna Be A Billionaire, and, fresh from his Westminster RBIS, the Old English Sheepdog, Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect.

Grabbing the first BIS was the Chow, Forbes, and picking up the RBIS was the Pom, Pako.  It’s the first BIS for the two year old.  Congratulations to breeders/owners Robert &Linda L Banghart and owners Linda & Michael Brantley.  Michael piloted Forbes to the win.
