NEW DOG IN TOWN

Crispy Legacy

We love a good surprise and today’s Detroit Kennel Club offered us a dandy.  The Swedish Wire Fox Terrier, Crispy Legacy, made his American debut today, going Best In Show from the Open Dog class.

GCH CH Claircreek Impression de Matisse

Sparky and handler Ernesto Lara were joined in Espen Engh’s final by the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, GCH CH Chesastar Hudson Bay RN, the Whippet, CH Cottonwood Vuitton, the RBIS, the Portuguese water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek Impression de Matisse, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Pem We-Syng Lucky Mi, the Keeshond, CH KJ’s Dream Date, and the Bouvier des Flandres, CH Stonepillar’s Steel Blu.

Sparky brings an impressive resume with him from Europe where he was a multiple BIS winner breeder/owner/handled by Agnetta Astrom.  Our congratulations to Ernesto, Agnetta, and Sparky’s American owners John & Daphne Eggert.   Oh, this is going to be fun.

WHERE THE POINTS WERE

GCH CH Camelot's Red Hot Tamale

Savy exhibitors knew that there were far more points in Albany OR this week than in Chicago or San Diego.  The seven dogs trying to get first dibbs on the points at Thursday’s Linn County Kennel Club show were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Shadowland's Paws For Applause At Tristar, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Camelot's Red Hot Tamale, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Tiburon Arsenal, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Alpine’s Ring Of Fire, the Pug, GCH CH Prima Lucca Wishing on A Shoboat Tu, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Mariel’s Harvest Moon.

GCH CH Alpine’s Ring Of Fire

Getting the big rosette and the big points was the Ridgeback, Molly.  Getting the Reserve photo op was the AmStaff, Phoenix.  It’s Molly’s first all breed BIS.   Congratulations to breeder/owner Clayton Heathcock, owner Cheri Hadley, and handler David Bueno.

GCH CH Sky Acres Flying Solo

Linda Robey was in the final ring for the LCKC’s day two show.  She saw the German Shorthaired Pointer, CH Kempfers Diddy Dirty Money, the Rhodesian, Molly, the Standard Schnauzer, CH Chateau Palos Treaty of Goarhein, the AmStaff, Phoenix, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Brackley My Amazing Warrior, the Keeshond, GCH CH Summerwind's Rumor Has It, and the Belgian Tervuren, GCH CH Sky Acres Flying Solo.

Collecting all those points was the Tervuren, Solo, while the AmStaff, Phoenix, got his second consecutive RBIS (and the fewest points of any of the final seven.  Where’s the fairness in that?)  It’s the third BIS for Solo and her first this year.  Solo was the Number One Belgian Tervuren  in 2011 and 2012, and is the only Tervuren bitch to ever hold the Number One spot in the breed.  Congratulations to breeder/owner/handler Michelle Edling.

GCH CH Brighton Lakeridge Encore

The Mckenzie Cascade Dog Fanciers took over on Sunday and chose Jon Cole to handle their day one final.  His lucky seven were the previously seen Golden, AmStaff, & Standard Poodle, the Smooth Dachshund, GCH CH Spellbound's You Go First, the Bernese Mountain Dog, CH Sendache's Moving Heaven And Earth At Tristar RN, and the Papillon, CH Jareaux Rip It Up La Ren.

His Best In Show were the Poodle, Ally, and the Tervuren, Solo.  It’s Ally’s 91st career BIS and her third this year.

GCH CH Brackley My Amazing Warrior

The MCDF closed the set and the show week with Darryl Vice in the final ring with the now familiar Ridgeback, MinPin, & Tervuren, the Sussex Spaniel, CH Chatapa Jason and the Argonauts, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Steinhaus Maxim Courage RN, the Soft Coated Wheaten, GCH CH Doubloon’s Extreme Play, the Dalmatian, Merry Go Round Express.

Taking home the last of the points was the MinPin, Paxton, while the Schnauzer, Max, packed up the RBIS.  It’s the first all breed BIS for the 2012 Miniature Pinscher Club of America’s  National Specialty winner.  Congratulations to breeder Wendy Boyette and owners Keri & Danie Haney.

DAYS 3 & 4 IN HATTIESBURG MS

GCH CH Glenleigh Gang's 'N Roses

We are partial to clusters like the recently completed “Crawfish Cluster” in Hattiesburg MS.  The shows are smaller, though not tiny, allowing a leisurely pace that allows fanciers to spend some quality time with their fellow exhibitors.  We told you about Thursday’s GreaterHattiesburg Kennel Club and Friday’s Meri-Miss Kennel Club shows.  Here’s what they did Saturday & Sunday.

Karasar’s Minuet

The GHKC’s day two show ended with Robert Caswell in the final ring with the Irish Setter, GCH CH Seafarer's Red Hot And Green, a Whippet from the Bred By Exhibitor class, Karasar’s Minuet, the Doberman Pinscher, CH Sunburg's Street Sense, the Smooth Fox Terrier,  CH Sayo's Jai Ho, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Glenleigh Gang's 'N Roses, and  the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Row-Bars Heartbreaker.

His top two were the Bichon, Governor, and the Whippet, MinneeHAHA.   It’s the Gov’s first BIS of the year.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Karen A Tormey MD, owns Lorrie Carlton, Larry Letsche DVM, & Renee Lauer, and handler Ellen Akers Perry.

CH Sayo's Jai Ho

At Sunday’s MMKC final BIS judge Geraldine Taylor would see the Weimaraner, GCH CH Unity's Bzyfeet Laverne Defazio, the Whippet, GCH CH Karasar's Rememberence, the Boxer, GCH CH Winfall I Dream of Style, the above named Smooth Fox, the Italian Greyhound, GCH CH Cantex Gris Gris Sonofa Doc, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Australian Shepherd, CH Dancer’s Last Tango HT.

GCH CH Karasar's Rememberence

The RBIS went to the Whippet, Britannee, the older sister of Saturday’s RBIS.  Now there’s some sibling rivalry we can get behind.  BIS went to the Smooth Fox, Tessa.  It was her second of the set and her third in six final appearances this year.

DAY FOUR IN TALLAHASSEE

GCH CH Kan Sing’s Tenzin

Down in Tallahassee FL the Ochlockonee River Kennel Club Of Florida closed the four day set with Sharol Candace Way’s final.  Her seven options were the Gordon Setter, GCH CH Hollyhunt Take A Chance On Me, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Camelot's Ventura Adventure, the Boxer, CH Hi Tech The King of Sherry Shoot Jp, the Lakeland Terrier, GCH CH Nanhalls Koichi Hi-Kel Terrydale, the Miniature Pinscher, GCH CH Marlex Classic Red Glare, the Tibetan Spaniel, GCH CH Kan Sing’s Tenzin, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Wolf Creek Galaxy Of Merivern.

GCH CH Wolf Creek Galaxy Of Merivern

Her Best was the Tibbie, Tenzin, and her Reserve was the GSD, Galaxy.  Tenzin has been holding his own against the Poodles and Bichons this year, picking up seven Non-Sporting Group top prizes so.  This is the first all breed Best this year for the 2013 Westminster Group Four winner.  Congratulations to breeder/owner Martha Feltenstein/and breeder/handler Diego Garcia.
