KC OF PHILADELPHIA

GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess 

The Kennel Club of Philadelphia’s Saturday show is the only AKC dog show that is shown on broadcast television. Perfectly positioned just after the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, the broadcast reaches an enormous audience. It is the only dog show most Americans will ever see. 

GCH CH Pebblesrun Play It Again Ham

The seven dogs that the public will get to see in judge Edd Bivin’s final will be the Gordon Setter, GCH CH Sandpiper's Shore Why Knot!, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess, the Samoyed, GCH CH Pebblesrun Play It Again Ham, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Absolutely Signature, the Affenpinscher, GCH CH Yarrow's Hi-Tech Ben There Done That, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Diva's Bastille My Heart, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Dunhill Steeler Nation. 

The Bloodhound, Nathan, and the Samoyed, Bogey, will be remembered by the non-show going public as the national champion, Best In Show at the Kennel Club of Philadelphia, and the runner up, the Reserve Best In Show. Those in the fancy know that Nathan is the country’s Number One Hound and Number Ten Dog All Breeds with 21 BIS and 77 Hound Groups this year.

The Lima Kennel Club had the coveted Saturday spot in the four show set this weekend in Columbus OH. Judge Robert Vandiver named the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, his BIS and the English Setter, GCH CH Stargazer'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don't Tell, his RBIS.

Rounding out his seven finalists were the Irish Wolfhound, GCH CH Ansa Mo Caoimhin Modigliani CGC, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlake Pants On Fire, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Keeshond, CH Paradise Kees' Island Gigolo, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It V Kenlyn. 

We are running out of superlatives for the PWD, Matisse, easily one of the most remarkable show dogs we have ever met. Today’s win brings the Number One Dog All Breeds’ 2014 resume to 126 BIS and 163 Working Groups.

DAY TWO IN ROSEBURG OR

GCH CH Promenade Pay It Forward 

Our last report from Friday comes in from Roseburg OR and the Umpqua Kennel Club. Judge Beverly Capstick’s final included the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade Pay It Forward, the Whippet, GCH CH Princeton's Falling In Love At Starline, the Alaskan Malamute, GCH CH Peace Rivers Gathers No Moss At Sunstra, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Michan’s Mick Like A Rolling Stone, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, GCH CH Quail Garden Loch Lomond Déjà vu, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Del Zarzoso Salvame From Afterglow, and the Beauceron, GCH CH De Joie Du Chateau Rocher CA.

Her BIS was the Field Spaniel, Gideon, and her RBIS, the Beauceron, also named Gideon. Gideon, the Field Spaniel, is the Number Two Sporting Dog and Number Nine Dog All Breeds with 13 BIS and 50 Sporting Groups this year.

DAY ONE IN TUCSON AZ

GCH CH Coventry Fly Me To The Moon 

The Tucson Kennel Club opened a four day stop in their Arizona hometown on Friday, asking judge Gene Blake to take the final ring. His seven hopefuls were the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Vjk-Myst Garbonita's California Journey, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Agha Djaris Eye Candy Of Sura, the Akita, GCH CH Sondaisa Fyre When Ready CD RN, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Hjohoo's Save Hjour Love For Me, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitime What the Inferno, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Escada Del Veintisiete at Qazara, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Fly Me To The Moon.

Finishing one/two were the Corgi, Finn, and the Frenchie, Escada. It was the first BIS in 11 trips to the final ring this year for Finn and handler Jenny Rangel.

Dr Steve Keating was in Chickasha OK to call Friday’s Town and Country Kennel Club final. His seven options were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Saluki, GCH CH Starlite's Made Of The Best Stuff On Earth BN RN, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Dezperado’s Hallelujah, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Explicit’s Full Throttle To Alpine, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Zen's Cirque Du Soleil, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect.

Taking the BIS was the Springer, Randy, while the RBIS, went to the OES, Swagger. Randy is the Number Four Sporting Dog with 12 BIS and 85 Sporting Groups.

The Salisbury North Carolina Kennel Club had the opener for the three day weekend in Concord NC and they asked judge Dr Sophia Kaluzniacki to handle the day one final. The seven dogs that stayed all day to see her were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Militza's My Cherie Amour, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtin’s Lookin for Trouble, the Boxer, GCH CH Mephisto’s Speak Of The Devil, the Russell Terrier, CH Goldsands Billie Jean CA, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Fist Face A Penny For Your Thought, the Bulldog, GCH CH Fist Face A Penny For Your Thought, the Bulldog, Imperious Hamitup Southern Bell, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Get Over It.

 Finishing one/two were the Russell, Billan, and the Irish Setter, Adele. It was the first BIS in just two final outings (she got an RBIS at the first one) for Billan and owner/handler Chris Manelopolous. AKC’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, continues his march to the end of a record setting year, taking the BIS at Friday’s Dayton Kennel Club show in Columbus OH.

Challenging Matisse for judge Jason Hoke’s favor were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargazer N Wingfield Wait Wait Don’t Tell, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Torquay Midnight Victory, his RBIS, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier, GCH CH King's Mtn Angelina Ballerina, the Havanese, GCH CH Qbin's Strictly Confidential At Enginuity, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH ByRequest Bon Mot, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It V Kenlyn. 

Matisse is the winningest show dog in the last three decades with 220 career BIS. This year he has logged 125 BIS and 162 Working Groups, rolling up a 41 BIS/20,000 point lead on the Number Two Dog.

DAY TWO IN OCALA FL

GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie 

The country’s Number Five Dog All Breeds, the Sky Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, made it two in a row collecting the BIS at Friday’s Seminole Dog Fanciers Association encore.

Joining Charlie in judge Charles Trotter’s final were the RBIS, the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Empire’s Monarch Maker, the Prince Charles English Toy Spaniel, GCH CH Maibee Orlando, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Bandog's Major League Homerun at TX Star, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Limelite's Tenfold. Charlie is the nation’s Number One Terrier with 29 BIS and 108 Terrier Groups this year.

GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret 

 The Greater Philadelphia Dog Fanciers Association had the day two spot in suburban Oaks PA. The seven dogs that made it to judge John Constantine's final on Friday  were the Weimaraner, GCH CH Doc's Greyborn North Star Of Acadia, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International Success, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH McVan’s To Russia with Love, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country’s Tag I’m It, the Schipperke, CH DeLaMer Overboard, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Dunhill Steeler Nation.

Collecting his second consecutive BIS was the Akita, Trader. The Schipperke, Salty, would collect the RBIS. Trader is the top winning male Akita of all time with 32 career BIS. This year he has 19 BIS and 56 Working Groups.

The Chenango Valley Kennel Club opened the three day set in Syracuse NY on Friday and asked judge Elaine Lessig to take the day one final.  The seven dogs she considered were the ASCOB Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Blondheim’s Easy Matters, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Windstar’s Magnum Opus, the Boxer, GCH CH Brisbane “N” Blue Mondays Diamonds Are Decadent, the Airedale Terrier, GCH CH Joval Sweet Time, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH Smash JP Beauty & Beat, the American Eskimo Dog, GCH CH Nuuktok’s Atka Inukshuk, and the Briard, GCH CH Deja Vu Mia Cool As A Cucumber.

The two she chose as her BIS and her RBIS were the Boxer, Suri, and the Cocker, Matt.  It was the seventh BIS in 21 final appearances this year for the country's Number Seven Working Dog.

The Umpqua Kennel Club opened the four day Wild Rivers Cluster in Roseburg OR on Thursday. Judge Carolyn Alexander had the day one final and her pick of the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade Pay It Forward, the Whippet, GCH CH Princeton’s Falling In Love At Starline, the Akita, Minda Kawelas Hawaii Five-O, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Cambria’s Kid n Play, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Kulana’s Sh-Boom, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Del Zarzoso Salvame From Afterglow, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Noblespirit He’s Got It All V Kris-T.

Going to the head of the line was the MiniBull, Kid, followed by the Whippet, Abby. It was the second BIS in 31 final appearances this year for AKC's Numbr Ten Terrier and owner/handler Luke Baggenstos.

The country’s Number Two Dog All Breeds, the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, opened the four day Oklahoma Sooner Circuit in Chickisha OK on Thursday with a Best In Show at the Town and Country Kennel Club show.

Challenging Swagger for judge Clay Coady’s favor were the Whippet, GCH CH Debmar Lovin Dixie, the Boxer, GCH CH Cherkei's Dick Tracey, the West Highland White Terrier, GCH CH Tullybloom's Classified Credentials, the RBIS, the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo The King of Pop, and the Chow Chow, GCH CH Eastern-Magic Fly Me Safe. 

It was the 13th consecutive BIS for Swagger. Swagger is the winningest Old English Sheepdog of all time with 108 career BIS. This year Swagger has 84 BIS and 126 Herding Groups.

DAY ONE IN COLUMBUS OH

The country’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, started his week as he ended the last, with a Best In Show.

Joining Matisse in today’s Sandusky Kennel Club final in Columbus OH were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargazer N Wingfield Wait Wait Don’t Tell, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Torquay Midnight Victory, the Dandie Dinmont Terrier, GCH CH King's Mtn Angelina Ballerina, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), judge Paula Hartinger’s RBIS, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH ByRequest Bon Mot, and the Pyrenean Shepherd, GCH CH La Brise Sun Bear. 

Matisse now has more BIS (219) than any dog in history save one, the German Shepherd Dog, CH Altana’s Mystique, who logged an astounding 275 all breed Bests. This year Matisse has 124 BIS and 161 Working Groups.

PENN TREATY KC DAY ONE

GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret 

The second weekend in November is an important one in the dog world, featuring one of the only two televised AKC dog shows remaining on the AKC calendar, the Thanksgiving staple, the Kennel Club of Philadelphia’s National Championship. 

GCH CH Absolutely Signature

The set began today with the PennTreaty Kennel Club’s day one show.   Judge Sharol Candace Way had the final and her choice of the Weimaraner, GCH CH Doc's Greyborn North Star Of Acadia, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International Success, the Akita, GCH CH CR-Wicca’s Trade Secret, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Absolutely Signature, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Bar-None Pistolera, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Corgard’s Dial One-VIII Hundred Yum Yum. 

The Akita, Trader, grabbed the day one big rosette and the Smooth Fox took the reserve ribbon. The win sets a new career record for an Akita Dog at 31 BIS.  The breed record was set at 61 BIS in 2007 by the Akita bitch, CH Redwitch Reason to Believe.  Trader is the country’s Number Working Dog with 18 BIS and 55 Working Groups this year.

Our first results this week comes in from Ocala FL where the Seminole Dog Fanciers Association opened a four day set. Judge Barbara Dempsey Alderman had the day one final and her pick of the English Springer Spaniel. GCH CH Hil-N-Don & Canyonwood Seemore Of Me, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtin’s Lookin for Trouble, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Monarch's Empire Maker, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Kaylen's Kahlua, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Bandog's Major League Homerun At TX Star, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Wonderland's Force Of Nature. 

Taking the stop’s first BIS was the Skye, Charlie. Collecting the RBIS was the Doberman, Grant. Charlie is the country’s Number One Terrier and Number Five Dog All Breeds with 28 BIS and 107 Terrier Groups this year.

We told you earlier that Saturday’s BIS win by a black Pug was a rare thing. Even rarer are back2back BIS by a black pug. That is just what GCH CH Warpug Black and Blue Reme did this weekend in Winona MN at the Coulee Kennel Club shows. 

GCH CH Tramore Notorious 

Judge Elizabeth Muthard picked Reme out of a lineup that included her RBIS, the Irish Setter, GCH CH Tramore Notorious, the Greyhound, CH Lorricbrook Royal Picture, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Nightline Viking A Tanglewood, the West Highland White Terrier, CH Heights Wight House, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Blackberry N Riverside Perfect Pemigewasset, or the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Margaux’s Va Voom. 

The win brings Reme’s 2014 resume to three BIS and seven Toy Groups.

GRAND RAPIDS KENNEL CLUB

The country’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, ended his weekend as he has so many times this year, with a Best In Show. Sunday’s win came at the Grand Rapids Kennel Club show in Kalamazoo MI.

Challenging Matisse for judge Virginia Lyne’s favor were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Raquel Welch Of Malabo APD, the RBIS, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlake Pants On Fire, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Shine’s Deck The Halls, and the Pyrenean Shepherd, GCH CH La Brise Sun Bear. It was the 123rd BIS and the 160th Working Group this year for Matisse and handler Michael Scott.

SUNDAY IN BROOKSVILLE FL

GCH CH Regimes Thriller Of Elmo 

Two kennelmates took the two top prizes at Sunday’s Hernando County Kennel Club show in Brooksville FL. The Afghan Hound, GCH CH Regimes Thriller Of Elmo, was judge Richard Miller’s BIS and the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, his RBIS.

The Huntsville Kennel Club closed the four day stop in Decatur AL with judge Margo Klingler in the final ring. Joining her were the Irish Setter, GCH CH Beaubriar’s Best Kept Secret, the Longhaired Dachshund, GCH CH Walmar-Solo's Omg Sl JE, the Mastiff, Goldleaf’s Trouble Coming CGC, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid Of Honor, the Chinese Crested, GCH CH Dejavu I Want'A Talk About Me, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Beauceron, GCH CH De Joie Du Chateau Rocher CA.

Finishing one/two were the Poodle, Flame, and the Dachshund, Burns.  It was the third BIS of the set and the 44th in 112 final appearances this year for the country’s Number Three Dog All Breeds.

His seven hopefuls were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Emery’s In The Midnight Hour, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Boxer, GCH CH Mephisto’s Speak Of The Devil, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Connacht A Ha Penny Will Do, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Starfire’s Spank Me Hard Call Me Crazy, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Unique Da Maya Dancing Queen, and the Finnish Lapphund, CH Lumiturpa Tapakka.

Best was the Boxer, Devlin, and Reserve the Afghan, Matrix. It was the first BIS in six final attempts this year for Devlin and handler Diego Garcia. Congratulations to Diego, breeders Michelle Yeadon, Peter Yeadon, & Monkia Pinsker, and owners Mrs Jack Billhardt & Sergio Tenenbaum.

The Mispillion Kennel Club closed the five day set in Salisbury MD on Monday with judge Clay Coady in the final ring. Our lone West Coast offering was the Wine Country Kennel Club’s two day set in Napa CA. Ah, dogs and wine. Now that’s a sporting weekend.

 Saturday ended with judge Ruth Zimmerman going over the Irish Setter, GCH CH Militza's My Cherie Amour, the Borzoi, GCH CH Raynbo's Foolish Pleasure, the Bernese Mountain Dog, GCH CH Avatars Let's Try It Again, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Absolutely Talk of the Town, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH North Well Vivian Jp Rose Queen, the Keeshond, GCH CH Skyline’s Unit Of Measure, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Bon Idee’s London Calling. Going to the head of the line was the Irish Setter, Adele, followed by the Keeshond, Cubit. 

Adele is the country’s Number One Irish Setter and Number Ten Sporting Dog with six BIS and 37 Sporting Groups.

Sunday judge Norm Patton would see the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade Pay It Forward, the Wirehaired Dachshund, GCH CH Kadell's Gold Dust W, the Rottweiler, GCH CH High Hills Holy Smoke CD BN RA CGC, the above named Smooth Fox, Toy Poodle, & Keeshond, and the German Shepherd Dog, CH Sequoias Contessa Of Covy-Tucker Hill. 

Once again the Keeshond, Cubit would get the RBIS, but the top prize would go to the Toy Poodle, Rosie. We are used to seeing handler Tim Brazier with the country’s top Standard Poodles. Rosie has only recently joined this year’s campaign, but she and Tim already have four BIS and 13 Toy Groups. We think Rosie is a Dog2Watch. Congratulations to Tim, breeder Yone Natsume, and owners Toni & Martin Sosnoff.

BACK TO TUCZON AZ

GCH CH Hitime What the Inferno 

Next we return to Tucson AZ where we told you that the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, was judge Judy Webb’s Best In Show at Friday’s BIS at the Madera Canyon Kennel Club show. 

At Saturday’s MCKC day two show BIS judge Jason Hoke would see the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Hil-N-Don & Canyonwood Seemore Of Me, the Ibizan Hound, GCH CH Paradise Bette Davis Eyes, the Akita, GCH CH Mojo's Continuation Of A Myth, the Irish Terrier, GCH CH Rockledge McCallen Of Meath, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitime What the Inferno, the French Bulldog, GCH CH LeBull El Morroco at LeCirque, and the Polish Lowland Sheepdog, GCH CH Stonebrook's For Your Eyes Only. 

 He would name the country’s Number One Toy Dog, the Pom, Danny, his BIS and the Frenchie, Trouble, his RBIS. Danny is also the nation’s Number Six Dog All Breeds with 23 BIS and 66 Toy Groups. 


GCH CH Sandpiper's Let Freedom Ring 

The Canada del Oro Kennel Club would take over the show grounds on Sunday and put judge Carolyn Herbel in the final ring with the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Sandpiper's Let Freedom Ring, Friday’s BIS winner, the Whippet, Brazen, the Boxer, GCH CH Hijinx This Is How I Roll, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Roundtown Everyday Magic Of Maryscot, the Pom, Danny, the Finnish Spitz, GCH CH Mickywins Mainio Skandia CGC, and the Australian Cattle Dog, GCH CH Vista’s Wait For The Beep At MGK.

Finishing one/two were the Golden and the Cattle Dog. Freedom is the US’ Number One Golden Retriever with nine BIS and 31 Sporting Groups.

Brazen would get her second BIS of the set at the CDKC’s closer on Monday. Challenging her for judge Robert Schreve’s favor were the Golden, Freedom, the RBIS, the aforementioned Akita, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Hjohoo's Save Hjour Love For Me, the Pom, Danny, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Litilann's Showdown, and the above named, Polish Lowland Sheepdog.

Brazen is AKC’s Number One Whippet, Number Three Hound, and Number 18 Dog All Breeds with 13 BIS and 67 Hound groups.
