DAY ONE IN COSTA MESA CA

GCH CH Skyline’s Unit of Measure 

Californian exhibitors were in Costa Mesa CA for Friday’s Shoreline Dog Fanciers Association Of Orange County show, the first of four shows hosted by the SDFAOC and the Malibu Kennel Club. Judge Gloria Geringer had the opening final and her pick of the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Over The Legal Limit, the Saluki, GCH CH Ladyhawk’s Gallant Bess, the Boxer, GCH CH R And G N Hunter Creeks Mystical Attraction, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Roundtown Everyday Magic Of Maryscot, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What the Inferno, the Keeshond, GCH CH Skyline’s Unit of Measure, and the Australian Cattle Dog, GCH CH Kokopelli’s Sobe It.

She chose the Keeshond, Cubit as her BIS and the Scottie, Magic, as her RBIS. Cubit is the country’s Number One Keeshond and Number Four Non-Sporting Dog with seven BIS and 41 Group Firsts.

GCH CH Tullybloom's Classified Credentials 

Texas fanciers are enjoying an all Terrier limited breed show and three all breed shows in Dallas this weekend. Thursday’s North Texas Terrier Club show guaranteed a strong Terrier entry at Friday’s Greater Collin Kennel Club show. BIS judge Anne Katona recognized that entry by naming the West Highland White Terrier, GCH CH Tullybloom's Classified Credentials, her Best In Show.

Joining CC in judge Katona’s final were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Rush Hill's Drama'Geddon JH, the Saluki, GCH CH Baghdad Eleganza Extravaganza, the RBIS, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Dezperado’s Hallelujah CA, the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo The King of Rock, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, and the Border Collie, GCH CH Tan Dynasty’s Rocky. 

 It was the first BIS of the year for CC and handler Alfonso Escobedo. Congratulations to Alfonso, breeders/owners Paula & Charles Cohen, and co-breeder Judith White.

DAY TWO IN WHEATON IL

GCH CH Rolin’s No Reservations 

 In this penultimate weekend of the show season, virtually every corner of the US is offering opportunities to gather a few more points before year’s end. In addition to the Friday shows we reported from New England, we had shows yesterday in the Mid-West, Texas, and Southern California. 

The Mid-West offering was the Starved Rock Kennel Club show in Wheaton IL, 30 miles west of Chicago. The seven dogs seeking BIS judge Dr Anthony DiNardo’s favor were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Summits Back By Popular Demand, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtin’s Lookin for Trouble, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Rolin’s No Reservations, the Dandie Dinmont, GCH CH King’s Mtn Angelina Ballerina, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Char's Seattle Slew For Triple Crown, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Safari’s This Side Of Paradise, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Grandgables The Frat Boy. 

The Doberman breeder judge would choose the Doberman, Reno, as his BIS and the Golden, Brodie as his RBIS. It was the first BIS for Reno. Congratulations to breeders/owners Roland & Linda Hagmann and handler Karen Fox.

GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse 

The country's Number One Dog All Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, continued his unprecedented run, collecting his 228th career BIS today at the Champlain Valley Kennel Club show in West Springfield MA. 

GCH CH Cerise Celtic Thunder 

Judge Desmond Murphy picked Matisse out of a lineup that included his RBIS, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Celtic Thunder, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Exlysta Aries Ciel Noir, the Russell Terrier, GCH CH Mon Amour JP Rainbow Blossoms, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), the Standard Poodle, CH Hillwood Dassin Ouspenskaya, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical’s My Turn. It was the 133rd BIS in 171 final appearances this year for Matisse and handler Michael Scott.

FRIDAY IN WINSTON-SALEM NC

The Greater Hickory Kennel Club opened the three show set in Winston-Salem NC today, asking judge Patti Widick Neale to take the final ring. Her seven hopefuls were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Legacy Random Titleist, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Giant Schnauzer, GCH CH Skansen's Havannah, the Russell Terrier, GCH CH Goldsand's Billie Jean, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country's Tag I'm It, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Milledals Alisa At Peace Valley, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Topsey Turvey. 

GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded 

Going to the head of the line was the Puli, Charlotte, followed by the Afghan, Matrix. Charlotte is the Number Two Herding Dog this year with 15 BIS and 66 Group Firsts.

THURSDAY IN WHEATON IL

GCH CH Tashtin’s Lookin for Trouble 

With just two weekends left in the show season, our top dogs are out scouring the nation, attempting to add a few more points to their year end tallly. Many were in Wheaton IL for Thursday’s Starved Rock Kennel Club show. BIS judge would see the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtin’s Lookin for Trouble, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Rolin’s No Reservations, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Amchara Roc Ur World, the Pug, GCH CH Careva’s Boodelicious, the Boston Terrier, GCH CH Ken’s Always Gets The Last Laugh, and the Shetland Sheepdog, GCH CH Grandgable’s the Frat Boy.

He would name the Beagle Miss P his Best and the Springer, Randy, his Reserve. Miss P is the nation’s Number Two Hound with 16 BIS and 86 Hound Groups in 2014.

Joining Matisse in judge Elliot Weiss’ final were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Celtic Thunder, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Raquel Welch of Malabo APD, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Stonebridge Just a Little Bit Better, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), judge Weiss’ RBIS, the Standard Poodle, CH Hillwood Dassin Ouspenskaya, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical’s My Turn. The win brings Matisse career BIS record to 227 and his 2014 record to 132 BIS and 170 Working Groups.

MONDAY IN YUMA AZ

The Imperial Valley Kennel Club closed the week’s action with their Monday outing in Yuma AZ. BIS judge Barbara Dempsey-Alderman’s stellar seven were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH M&M’s Fear the Beard, the Boxer, GCH CH HiJinx This is How I Roll, the Miniature Bull Terrier, GCH CH Dytona VIP, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What the Inferno, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Del Zarzoso Salvame From Afterglow, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect.

Her top two were the OES, Swagger, and the Standard Poodle, Dino. It was the third of the stop and the 88th BIS in 133 trips to the final ring this year. The win brings Swagger’s career BIS total to 112, the most by an Old English Sheepdog ever.

Judge chose her top two from the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Highlander's Rumour Has It, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Starfire's Spank Me Hard Call Me Crazy, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Hearts on Fire, and the Puli, GCH CH Cordmaker Topsy Turvey.

They were the Standard Poodle, Flame, and the Pom, Spanky. Flame is the nation’s Number One Non-Sporting Dog and Number Three Dog All Breeds with 47 BIS and 120 Group Firsts.

The Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade Pay It Forward, joined this weekend’s back2back BIS bandwagon, taking Sunday’s Camelia Captial Kennel Club Best In Show in Woodland CA.

The country’s Number Two Dog All Breeds, the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, became the third dog to post back2back BIS this weekend, taking Sunday’s top prize at the Imperial Valley Kennel Club show in Yuma AZ.

 Challenging Swagger for the win were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Foxboro N Shardust Authentic, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH M&M's Fear The Beard, the RBIS, the Boxer, GCH CH Hijinx This Is How I Roll, the Norwich Terrier, GCH CH Max-Well’s Cradle Robber, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What the Inferno, and the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Starlight’s Lady In Waiting.  

Swagger is the winningest Old English Sheepdog in AKC history with 111 career BIS. This year Swagger has 87 BIS and 132 Herding groups.

SUNDAY IN CONROE TX

GCH CH Derby’s Toast with Gusto 

Judge Teddy McDowell was in Conroe TX Sunday to choose a BIS and RBIS for the hometown kennel club. Her seven options were the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Ehrenvogel Achy Breaky Heart, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derby’s Toast with Gusto, the West Highland White Terrier, GCH CH Tullybloom’s Classified Credentials, the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo The King of Pop, the Bulldog, GCH CH Dowats The Gladiator, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Aubrey’s Moon River.

Her Best was the Greater Swiss, Gus, and her Reserve, the Afghan, Matrix. Gus is the nation’s Number One Greater Swiss Mountain Dog with eight BIS and 33 Working Groups in 2014.

Rounding out judge Larry Sinclair’s final were the Clumber Spaniel, GCH CH Nexus Total Eclipse, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Tsarshadow Kentucky Windage At Foxheart, the Havanese, GCH CH Qbin’s Strictly Confidential At Enginuity, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH ByRequest Bon Mot, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv’s Sultry Sensation. 

By now every fancier knows that Matisse is the nation’s Number One Dog All Breeds with 131 BIS and 169 Working Groups this year and the second most successful show dog ever with 226 career BIS.

The Beaufort Kennel Club had the Sunday spot in Savannah GA and asked judge James Frederiksen to choose a BIS and RBIS. His options were the English Setter, GCH CH Stargaze'R 'N Wingfield Wait Wait Don't Tell, the 15” Beagle, GCH CH Tashtin’s Lookin for Trouble, the Boxer, GCH CH Mephisto’s Speak of the Devil, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid of Honor, the Silky Terrier, Lamplighter’s Tattle Tail, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Merry Go Round Coach Master, and the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Alexy Handsome Devil.

We start our Monday Morning Mop Up in Westminster MD where the Northeastern Maryland Kennel Club closed the two day stop with judge Lee Brown in the final ring. The seven dogs that stayed all day to see him were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Celtic Thunder, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Stonewall Jackson, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Alisaton Saboteur V Raklyn Ciden, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH McVan’s To Russia with Love, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Touche’s Top Hat And Tails At Samskara, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Ta Sen I Won’t Dance Don’t Ask Me, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Whisperwood’s Wild Horse.

 The Airedale Terrier, GCH CH Joval Sweet Time, made it two in a row, following her BIS Saturday with another Sunday in Worcester MA at the Worcester County Kennel Club’s day two show.

Our lone west coast venue this week is in Woodland CA, some 20 miles outside of Sacramento. The Santa Cruz Kennel Club had the Saturday spot and asked judge Gloria Kerr to take the final ring. Her seven options were the Field Spaniel, GCH CH Promenade Pay It Forward, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Vin-Melca’s Daggarwood Delight, the Akita, GCH CH Mojo's Continuation Of A Myth, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Absolutely Talk of the Town, the Pug, GCH CH Pocket’s Jato Jetliner, the Keeshond, GCH CH Skyline’s Unit Of Measure, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Legacy’s Chance of A Lifetime.

Taking home the BIS was the Field Spaniel, Gideon. Picking up the RBIS was the Smooth Fox, Taylor. Gideon is this year’s Number Three Sporting Dog with 14 BIS and 52 Group Firsts.

Saturday was day two in Yuma AZ for the hometown Yuma Kennel Club and AKC’s Number Two Dog All Breeds, the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Bugaboo’s Picture Perfect, was judge Dr Gareth Morgan-Jones’ Best In Show.

Joining them in the final ring were the RBIS, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH M&M's Fear The Beard, the Boxer, GCH CH Hijinx This Is How I Roll, the Cairn Terrier, GCH CH Hjohoo's Save Hjour Love For Me, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What the Inferno, and the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Rufkins Hunk Of Burnin Love. 

Swagger is the winningest Old English Sheepdog in history with 110 career BIS. This year Swagger has garnered 86 BIS and 131 Herding Groups.

The Conroe Kennel Club is hosting two shows in their Texas hometown this weekend. Saturday’s show ended with judge Danelle Brown in the final ring with seven multiple BIS winners, the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH Ehrenvogel Achy Breaky Heart, the Afghan Hound, GCH CH Tells Matrix Reloaded, the Mastiff, GCH CH Goldleaf's Trouble Coming CGC, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Cumhill Hell Raiser, the Papillon, GCH CH InVolo The King of Pop, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Saks Winning Card, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Telltail Coco Posh.

The nation’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, collected his 225th career Best In Show (the second highest in AKC history)  at Saturday’s Ingham County Kennel Club show in East Lansing MI.

Joining Matisse in judge Betty-Anne Stenmark’s final were the Welsh Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Trystyn Statesman Cactus Blue, the Reserve winner, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Tsarshadow Kentucky Windage At Foxheart, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Chinese Shar-Pei, GCH CH Shine’s Deck the Halls, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv’s Sultry Sensation.

Matisse’s 2014 tally is 130 BIS and 168 Working Groups, the best one year total in AKC history…and we still have two more weeks to go in the season.
