PWD BIS IN VIRGINIA

Our show week got underway with Wednesday’s Northern Neck Kennel Club Of Virginia show in Fredericksburg VA. Getting an early start on the week were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Scottish Deerhound, GCH CH Foxcliffe Chelsea Piers, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, the Russell Terrier, GCH CH Rivendell's Tinker Toy, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Surrey Cherry Garcia, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Collinswood Sparks Fly. 

GCH CH Foxcliffe Chelsea Piers 

Judge Robert Whitney’s BIS was the Portie, Matisse, and his RIS, was the Deerhound, Chelsea. It was the third BIS of the new year for Matisse and his 232nd career BIS.

SAMMIE BIS SUNDAY IN MASS

GCH CH Pebblesrun Play It Again Ham 

Our final report today comes in from Springfield MA where judge Robert Caswell named the Samoyed, GCH CH Pebblesrun Play It Again Ham, his Best In Show at Sunday’s Merrimack Kennel Club show.


CH Fireheart’s Over the Rainbow 

Challenging Bogey for the win were the German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH CRK On the Double, the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Lacey’s Deck Plate Leader, the RBIS, the Scottish Terrier, CH Fireheart’s Over the Rainbow, the Havanese, GCH CH SurLuv Lickin Larrgo De Grace, the French Bulldog, CH Iacta Alea Est De La Bete, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical’s My Turn. 

Bogey finished 2014 as the Number Three Working Dog with eight BIS and 27 Working Groups. Congratulations to breeder/owner Amy Kiell Green, owner/handler Andrew Green, and owners Barbara Bruns & Wolfgang Stamp.

SMOOTH FOX BEST IN OHIO

 The Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Absolutely Signature, was judge Ron Menaker’s BIS at Sunday’s Rubber City Kennel Club show. Judge Menaker also liked the Shih Tzu, GCH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, whom he named his RBIS.

Also asking for consideration were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Cerise Blindside, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess, the Akita, CH Wicca’s Rule the Air, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Hillwood Dassin Ouspenskaya, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv’s Sultry Sensation. 

It was the first BIS for Bradley and breeder/owner/handler Dana Schumacher Gabel. Congratulations to Dana and breeder/owner J W Smith.

Joining the back2back BIS bandwagon was the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome. Beckett was judge David Kittredge’s Best In Show at Sunday’s Nolan River Kennel Club in Glen Rose TX.

 Rounding out the final were the Pharaoh Hound, GCH CH Farao Anubis Inferno BN RN SC, judge the RBIS, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Dezperado's Hallelujah CA, the Bull Terrier, GCH CH Farao Anubis Inferno BN RN SC, the Long Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Dazzles Touch Of Midas, the Miniature Poodle, GCH CH Marrett's I Live For The Applause, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Just A Little Crush. 

Beckett’s two BIS are worth around 2800 points, a great start to the year for 2014’s Number One Sporting Dog.

WELSH TERRIER BIG WINNER

GCH CH Andover See-Z The Moment 

Judge Bart Miller wrapped the big weekend on the polo fields in Indio CA, naming the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Andover See-Z The Moment, Best in Show at Sunday’s Kennel Club of Palm Springs.

Judge Miller also considered the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Sandpiper's Let Freedom Ring, the Basset Hound, GCH CH Topsfield-Sanchu Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, the Akita, GCH CH Mojo's Continuation Of A Myth, the RBIS, the Toy Poodle, GCH CH North Well Vivian JP Rose Queen, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Kmans Miss Fancy Pants, and the Pembroke welsh Corgi, CH Coventry Country Squire. 

 We will have to wait for the final numbers, but it appears that Lexy finishes the week as the Number One Dog All Breeds with a BIS, an RBIS, and a Group One at Friday’s Desert Empire Terrier Club Of Southern California, wins worth approximately 3000 points.

The Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Fist Face A Penny For Your Thought, had a perfect outing on this first weekend of the new year, taking the Group One at Friday’s North Star Toy Dog Club and back2back BIS at Saturday’s and Sunday’s Land O Lakes Kennel Club shows.

On Sunday, Penny, was challenged in judge James Reynold’s final by the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Norwegian Elkhound, GCH CH Aspen’s It Takes A Thief, the Siberian Husky, GCH CH Highlander’s Rumour Has It, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, GCH CH Cumhill Hell Raiser, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Ha-Lee Kiki-Ari Captain Morgan, and the RBIS, the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It V Kenlyn.

Penny is the daughter of the winningest Brussel Griffon of all time, CH Cilleine Masquerade, and now is our second Dog2Watch of 2015.

The first week of the 2015 show season is in the books and several dogs distinguished themselves as potential Top Ten candidates. To no one’s surprise 2014’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the Portuguese Water Dog, GCH CH Claircreek’s Impression de Matisse, posted back2back BIS in Pendleton SC. 

GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill 

Sunday’s win came at the Clemson Kennel Club show under judge Robin Stansell. Judge Stansell liked Matisse more than he did the RBIS, the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, whom he liked more than he did the Smooth Dachshund, GCH CH Leoralee’s Barstool Boogie MS, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Maid Of Honor, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Belle Creek’s All I Care About Is Love, and the Cardigan Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Riverside Telltail Coco Posh. 

The two wins bring Matisse’s career BIS total to 231, 44 shy of the mark set by the wiiningest dog in AKC history, the German Shepherd Dog, CH Altana’s Mystique.

BRITTANY BIS IN TEXAS

Last year’s Number One Sporting Dog, the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, jumped started his new year with a Best In Show at Saturday’s Nolan River Kennel Club show in Glen Rose TX.

Joining Beckett in judge Robert Frost’s final were the Saluki, GCH CH Baghdad Eleganza Extravaganza, the RBIS, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Dezperado's Hallelujah CA, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Explicit’s Full Throttle To Alpine, the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Sunny Bear's Sonic Boom At Shar's, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH The Siren Of The Sea ByRequest, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Reverie Cameo. 

Beckett finished 2014 as the Number Four Dog All Breed’s with 25 BIS and 89 Group Firsts. Congratulations to Congratulations to breeder/owner Kathy D Hogan, breeder Elud Archuleta Cressler, owners Jim & Alisa Andras, Carolee Douglas, Amanda Cone, and handler Clint Livingston.

While not as large as the Kennel Club of Palm Springs show, Saturday’s Land O Lakes Kennel Club show drew nearly 1800 dogs. Judge Virginia Lyne’s BIS was the Brussels Griffon, GCH CH Fist Face A Penny For Your Thought.

She also liked the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It V Kenlyn, whom she named her RBIS . Rounding out her seven were the Pointer, GCH CH Kan-Point’s Makin The Chase, the Wirehaired Dachshund, GCH CH Raydach’s Ride My Ducati SW, the Great Dane, CH Alpine’s Song of The South, the West Highland White Terrier, Shalreign’s The Love Bug, and the Dalmatian, GCH CH Blackberry N Riverside Perfect Pemigewasset. 

Penny finished 2014 as the Number Two Brussels Griffon with three BIS and 27 Toy Groups. Congratulations to breeders Rodney & Linda Vance, owners Larry & Carol Pagacz & Kelley Catterson, and handler Paul D Catterson.

GSP BIS IN PALM SPRINGS

The German Shorthaired Pointer, GCH CH VJK-Myst Garbonita’s California Journey, grabbed the early lead in the rankings Saturday, taking the top prize at the gargantuan Kennel Club of Palm Springs show on the polo field in Indio CA. 

GCH CH Andover See-Z The Moment 

CJ was strongly challenged by the Basset Hound, GCH CH Topsfield-Sanchu Eenie Meenie Miney Moe, the Newfoundland, GCH CH Seacrest's I'm Not What You Think, judge Rosemary Shoreman’s RBIS, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Andover See-Z The Moment, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What the Inferno, the Chow Chow, GCH CH Eastern-Magic Fly Me Safe, and the Australian Shepherd, McMatt’s Isis Of Graffiti. 

CJ burst on the show scene last July when he collected back2back BIS at the Cabrillo Kennel Club shows in Valley Center CA on his first weekend out as a special. He went on to collect a total of three BIS and eleven Sporting Groups in 2014. It is fitting that CJ becomes our first Dog2Watch of 2015. Congratulations to Valerie Nunes-Atkinson, co-breeder/owner Alice Manning, and owner Y Hassler Deter.
