DAY TWO IN GROVE OK

At some 200 miles northeast of Oklahoma City and 300 miles southwest of St Louis, Grove OK is quite literally in the middle of nowhere. Nonetheless Friday’s Northeast Oklahoma Kennel Club show drew some of this year’s biggest winners. Among judge Dr Robert D Smith’s finalists were the Sussex Spaniel, GCH CH Kamand Tangled Up In Blue, the Saluki, GCH CH GCH CH Starlite's Made Of The Best Stuff On Earth BN RN JC, the RBIS, the Boxer, GCH CH Cherkei's Dick Tracey, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Abbeyrose Black Diamond, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Hitimes What the Inferno, the Bulldog, GCH CH Wilson's I'm Your Handyman, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv' Sultry Sensation.

Finishing one/two were the Pom, Danny, and the Boxer, Henry. Danny is the Number One Toy Dog and Number Two Dog All Breeds with 11 BIS and 28 Toy Groups.

GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It v Kenlyn 

The big points are in Perry GA this week. So it is not surprising to find many of the Top Ten Dogs All Breeds at Friday’s Valdosta Kennel Club show seeking a share of the more than 2200 points available. The seven dogs asking BIS judge Dr Alvin Krause for all those points were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Legacy Random Titleist, the greyhound, GCH CH GrandCru Giaconda, the Samoyed, GCH CH Pebbles' Run Play It Again Ham, the Airedale Terrier, GCH CH Joval Sweet Time, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotted Bliss Oreo Delight, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It v Kenlyn.

Not surprisingly, the Nation’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the GSD, Rumor, picked up another BIS and the Number Nine Dog, the Shih Tzu, Rocket, added a second RBIS to the BIS he collected on Wednesday. Rumor is building a sizable lead on the field with 21 BIS and 43 Herding Groups so far this season.

LEBANON COUNTY KENNEL CLUB

GCH CH Pequest General Tso 

Judge Robin Stansell had the day two final at the Lebanon County Kennel Club show and his pick of the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Foxwoods Rock Of Cashel, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Stonewall Jackson, the Leonberger, GCH CH A Feiner Eros, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Invercrest Gotcha Girl, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Merry Go Round Coach Master, and the Briard, GCH CH Deja Vu Popsakadoo It Is What It Is. 

GCH CH A Feiner Eros 

Best went to the Peke, the General, and Reserve to Thursday’s BIS winner, the Leonberger, Odin. The General is the country’s Number One Pekingese, Number Three Toy Dog, and Number Ten Dog All Breeds with eight BIS and 27 Toy Groups this year.

The Bulldog from Seattle WA, GCH CH Wilson's I'm Your Handyman, was in Grove OK on Thursday to take the top prize at the Northeast Oklahoma Kennel Club. Dr John Reeve-Newson had a stellar seven for his final at Thursday, the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Celtic Lores Moonlight And Magic CGC, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Monarch’s Empire Maker, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Goodtime Charlie, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotted Bliss Oreo Delight, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It v Kenlyn.

Best went to the Springer Randy and the Reserve went to Wednesday’s BIS winner, the Shih Tzu, Rocket. Randy is the current Number Two Sporting Dog with five BIS and 21 Sporting Groups.

LEONBERGER BIS IN HARRISBURG

Fanciers in the Northeast have long considered the April shows in Harrisburg PA a canine rites of spring. The long weekend got underway on Thursday with the South Jersey Kennel Club’s opener. The seven dogs that made it to judge Paula Nykiel’s final were the English Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Foxwoods Rock Of Cashel, the American Foxhound, GCH CH Kiarry’s Stonewall Jackson, the Leonberger, GCH CH A Feiner Eros, the Welsh Terrier, GCH CH Territail’s Loyal Knight, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Gala Brighton Lakeridge Reflections Of Me, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Stonpeillar Steel Blu.

Her BIS was the Leonberger, Odin, and her RBIS the Peke, the General. It was the first BIS of the year for Odin, one of only two Leonbergers to win a BIS since the breed’s recognition 2010. Our show week made an early start with Wednesday’s Douglasville Kennel Club of Georgia in Perry GA. Judge Betty Regina Leininger had a powerhouse seven in her final, the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, the Bloodhound, GCH CH Flessner’s International S’Cess, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Dezperado’s Hallelujah CA CGC, the Skye Terrier, GCH CH Cragsmoor Good Time Charlie, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Spotted Bliss Oreo Delight, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It v Kenlyn, all multiple BIS winners.

The only dog shows west of the Rockies this past weekend were in Victorville CA, some 90 miles northeast of Los Angeles, where the Apple Valley Kennel Club hosted two shows. Saturday’s final was in the hands of judge Gregory Anderson who chose his top two from the Irish Setter, GCH CH Cairncross Take It To The Limit, the Ibizan Hound, GCH CH Paradise Bette Davis Eyes, the Great Pyrenees, GCH CH Monark Nobody’s Fool, the Australian Terrier, GCH CH Christhill President Dwight David, the Japanese Chin, GCH CH Genkis Blue Moon, the Lhasa Apso, GCH CH Ta Sen Swinging On A Star, and the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Covy-Tucker Hills Bearly Legal.

Danny would also be in judge David Kirkland’s final at Saturday’s Wichita Kennel Club show along with the Number Three Dog All Breeds, the Brittany, GCH CH Rainbow Splash’s Ruggedly Handsome, the Whippet, GCH CH Sporting Fields Shameless, the Doberman Pinscher, GCH CH Dezperado’s Hallelujah CA CGC, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Hampton Courts Monte Cristo, the Lowchen, CH Musicbox Fig Newton At Alharin, and the nation’s Number One Dog All Breeds, the German Shepherd Dog, GCH CH Lockenhaus Rumor Has It v Kenlyn. It would be Rumor topping the field as she has all year, followed by the RBIS, the Whippet, Brazen.

At Sunday’s Hutchinson Kennel Club show judge Edd Bivin would consider six of Saturday’s finalists and the Standard Poodle, GCH CH Dawin Reigate Fire Away before naming Rumor his BIS and the Pom, Danny, his RBIS. The two BIS brings Rumor’s 2015 record to 20 BIS and 40 Herding Groups. 

Judge Lesley Hiltz would close the four day set, calling the final at the Wichita Kennel Club’s encore. Staying to the end with her were the English Springer Spaniel, GCH CH Telltale American Ride, the Whippet, Brazen, the Akita, GCH CH Mojo’s Continuation of a Myth, the aforementioned Wire Fox, the Silky Terrier, Tumbelle N Silkyence Eye Candy, the returning Standard Poodle, and the GSD, Rumor. 

Brazen, the Whippet, would take home the last big rosette of the stop while Rumor would add an RBIS to her impressive resume. Brazen is AKC’s Number Two Hound with five BIS and 22 Hound Groups. Brazen is another dog poised to enter the hallowed Top Ten Dogs All breeds. We will tell you tomorrow if she made it.

The Bichon Frise, GCH CH Barberry’s Take a Chance on Me joined the back2back BIS club with consecutive wins at the Kennel Club Of Yorkville, Illinois’ two shows this past weekend in De Kalb IL.

Saturday judge Randy Garren picked Finn out of a seven that included the Sussex Spaniel, GCH CH Clussexx Howdy Doody Time, the RBIS, the Greyhound, GCH CH GrandCru Rombauer, the Bullmastiff, GCH CH Dal Primo In 7he Making, the Border Terrier, GCH CH Meadowlakes Pants on Fire, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Char's Seattle Slew For Triple Crown, and the Old English Sheepdog, GCH CH Lambluv’s Sultry sensation.

Sunday judge William Sahloff liked Finn more than he did his RBIS, the Saluki, GCH CH Baghdad A Missdemeanor, whom he liked more than the returning Sussex, Bullmastiff, Border Terrier, Pom, or OES. 

The two wins were Finn’s first BIS. Congratulations to breeders/owners Paula & Matt Abbott & Lisa Bettis, co-breeder Paula Hendricks, owner Elle Charles, and handler Ryan Wolfe.

On Saturday BIS judge Ainslie Mills gathered the Chesapeake Bay Retriever, GCH CH Hardwood’s Full House, the Whippet, GCH CH Longlesson Caught In The Crossfire, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Gamegards I’ll Have Another V Braeside RN, the American Staffordshire Terrier, GCH CH Ko Bos Prometeus, the Shih Tzu, GCH CH Hallmark Jolei Rocket Power, the Dalmatian, GCH CH Merry Go Round Coach Master, and the Bouvier des Flandres, GCH CH Stonepillar Steel Blu.

Her BIS was the Shih Tzu, Rocket, and her RBIS, the Bouvier, Blue. Rocket is the nation’s Number Three Toy Dog with three BIS and 35 Toy Groups. We wouldn’t be surprised to find Rocket among the Top Ten Dogs All Breeds when we compile the weekend’s results.

On Saturday judge Bill Shelton would pick Ducati out of a lineup that included the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Mar-K’s Sunrise At Midnight, the RBIS, the Standard Schnauzer, GCH CH Crusade Rock Crystal, the Scottish Terrier, GCH CH Invercrest Gotcha Girl, the Toy Manchester Terrier, GCH CH Cottage Lakes Our Lady Of Fatima, the Boston Terrier, GCH CH Weywoods Fortune Knocks, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Shadomoons The Competitive Edge RN CA.

Judge Charlotte Patterson would name Ducati her Best and the French Bulldog, GCH CH Entourage de Couture, her Reserve on Sunday after considering the Pointer, GCH CH Hipoint Here Comes The Sun, the Samoyed, GCH CH Pebbles Run Play It Again Ham, the West Highland White Terrier, GCH CH The Boss De New Gryffindor, the Smooth Coat Chihuahua, GCH CH Sonnus Filho (Sanchez), and the returning Australian Shepherd. 

The two wins, Ducati’s fourth & fifth of the year, make him the Number Three Hound.

The Weimaraner, GCH CH Doc's Greyborn North Star Of Acadia, made the most of the Greater Orange Park Dog Club’s two shows this weekend in Elkton FL, taking both of the top prizes.

On Saturday judge Linda More liked Bella more than she did the RBIS, the Smooth Collie, GCH CH Ceilidh's Deep River Haute Couture, whom she liked more than the 15” Beagle, CH Bartag Serius Trouble, the Rottweiler, GCH CH Voss Super Cops Tank, the Kerry Blue Terrier, GCH CH Soleilbleus Kiss of Everglory CGC, the Pomeranian, GCH CH Bravos Run, Lola, Run, or the Shiba Inu, GCH CH Frerose Good Time Charlie.

Sunday judge Robert Vandiver would see the same seven save one, the Wire Fox Terrier, GCH CH Fyrewyre Fit To Be Tied and name Bella his Best and the Shiba Inu his Reserve. Bella has three BIS nine trips to the final ring this year, all in the last two weekends.

SATURDAY & SUNDAY IN ALABAMA

GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill 

When we last checked in on Columbiana AL, we told you that the Black Cocker Spaniel, GCH CH Ashdown’s Time to Thrill, picked up his second consecutive BIS at Friday’s Birmingham Kennel Club show. Alan and handler Linda Pitts would do it again at Saturday’s Tuscaloosa Kennel Club under judge Charles Olvis.

Challenging Alan for the win were the Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, GCH CH Bubblegum V Tum-Tums Vriendjes, the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, GCH CH Derby’s Toast with Gusto, the Smooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Hampton Court Broxden What In Carnation, the RBIS, the Pug, GCH CH Hill Country’s Tag I’m It, the Bichon Frise, GCH CH Overtop Niort, and the Australian Shepherd, GCH CH Copperridges Unforgettable. Alan would finish the weekend with three BIS and 14 Sporting Groups on the year.

Alan, the Pug, JJ, and the Swissie, Gus, would all return for Sunday’s Birmingham Kennel Club encore. Joining them in judge Elizabeth Muthard’s final were the Rhodesian Ridgeback, GCH CH Celtic Lores Moonlight And Magic CGC, the Welsh Terrier, CH Shaireab’s Bayleigh Wolverine, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Kimik’s Who Dunnit, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Coventry Country Squire. 

Judge Muthard’s BIS was JJ, the Pug, and her RBIS was the Tibetan Terrier, Clue. JJ has been among the top Toy Dogs for three seasons now. This year JJ is the Number Five Toy Dog with two BIS and eight Toy Groups.

BREEDER/OWNER/HANDLER BIS

GCH CH McMagic’s Mojo 

We start our Monday Mop Up in West Springfield MA where the Troy Kennel Club had the preferred Saturday spot for their show. The seven dogs that BIS judge John Wade considered were the Golden Retriever, GCH CH Nautilus Keystone, the Scottish Deerhound, GCH CH Hobbara’s I Dreamed A Dream, the Samoyed, GCH CH McMagic’s Mojo, the Sooth Fox Terrier, GCH CH Absolutely Signature, the Pekingese, GCH CH Pequest General Tso, the French Bulldog, GCH CH Iacta Alea Est De La Bete, and the Bearded Collie, GCH CH Classical’s My Turn.

Taking the BIS was the Samoyed, Mojo. Collecting the RBIS was the Smooth Fox, Bradley. It was the first BIS this year for Mojo. Our congratulations to breeder/owner/handler Patricia McCallum.

The Trap Falls Kennel Club would take over on Sunday and ask judge Edward Lyons Jr to name his top two. The seven that stayed to the end were the Gordon Setter, GCH CH Skara Braes I Was Worth The Wait, the above named Deerhound, the Leonburger, GCH CH A Feiner Eros, the Smooth Fox, the returning Peke, the Tibetan Terrier, GCH CH Geribob Salishan To The Manor Born, and the Pembroke Welsh Corgi, GCH CH Cityside Splitting The Defense.

Taking home the big rosette was the Deerhound, Violet. Packing up the reserve ribbon was the Peke, the General. It was the first BIS for the two year old Deerhound. Congratulations to breeder/owner/handler Shawnine Cirincione and breeders/owners Anthony Cirincione & Terry Rizzitiello.
